Daily Program

1st day: Individual arrival at Innsbruck
Famous old town with city tower and medieval “Golden Roof”. Information meeting and distribution of rental bicycles.

2nd day: Innsbruck – Imst (approx. 60 km/38 miles)
On the old bridle path along river Inn, on the foot of Martin’s wall and through little villages and hamlets to Stams (Baroque Cistercian monastery), continua via Haiming to Imst, the “Merano of North Tyrol”.

3rd day: Imst – Burgeis/Mals (approx. 50 km/31 miles + 40 km bus)
Along river Inn, past Monastery Zams, to Landeck. Bus transfer to Nauders. About 100 m climb up to Reschen Pass. Downhill to lake Reschensee and on minor roads to Mals (many towers) or Burgeis on the foot of fortress Marienburg.

4th day: Burgeis/Mals – Merano (approx. 65 km/41 miles)
At first to Glurns (fully intact medieval city wall). Past the ruins of Montani through Schlanders down to Merano. Fortresses and castles (castle Juval of famous alpinist Reinhold Messner) stand guard on the route. Impressive views of Ortler massive and Stilfserjoch occupy the eyes on this stage. If you feel like shortening the route you can use little Vinschgau train that was revitalised in 2004.

5th day: Merano – Kaltern/Tramin/Auer (approx. 45-50 km/28-31 miles)
See the famous Schnatterpeck-altar in Lana and cycle through many fruit orchards and vineyards of the South Tyrolean wine street, past fortresses, castles and ruins as e.g. Hocheppan (famous frescoes) and the “dome in the country” St Paul's on Lake Kalterer See. Overnight in one of the picturesque wine-grower towns Kaltern, Tramin or Auer.

6th day: Tramin/Kaltern/Auer – Trento (approx. 45 km/28 miles)
Mainly on river Adige, sometimes through vineyards to Salurn where the language border between German and Italian runs. Famous Trentino vineyards cover the hills left and right of the dyke-cycle path. Visit the famous old town of Trento with the dome and castle Buonconsiglio.

7th day: Trento – Riva/Tobole (northern shore of Lake Garda) (approx. 50 km/31 miles)
You continue to cycle on river Adige to the old Tyrolean border city Rovereto to Mori. Here the tour leaves the river and turns west to Lake Garda. After a brief climb on Passo S. Giovanni (150 m) you head down to the lake and reach Torbole and cycle on to Riva.

8th day: Individual departure or extra days on Lake Garda
