Description

The bike route along the young Danube is almost completely flat. The old bank paths have been mostly asphalted and are almost traffic-free, and as such, are a good choice for families.
You will definitely enjoy the sightly river during an imposing boat trip through the breakthrough of the Danube in Weltenburg.
Be astonished about old framework and cosmopolitan towns such as Ulm and Regensburg. Visit castles and try regional specialties. In the last years, the old ways along the Danube were prepared for cyclists. Most of the road are asphalt and offer a nearly continuous flat route.
Enjoy the old baroque houses in Straubing, visit the Benedictine monastery of Metten, famous for its library and baroque church and finish in the historic town of Passau.

Daily Program

1st Day: Ulm
Individual arival and overnight.

2nd Day: Ulm - Günzburg (approx. 30 km/19 miles)
We start our bike tour after a culture tour in the old part of town with Ulm Minster. We cycle through the Friedrichsau and through Thalfingen to the first stage's destination in Günzburg.

3rd Day: Günzburg - Donauwörth (approx. 66 km/41 miles)
Today we cycle through Riesenburg, Offingen, Gundelfingen, and Lauingen into the old seat of power and an university town - Dillingen. After Höchstadt, we reach the boarder town of Donauwörth, at the "Dreistammesecke".

4th Day: Donauwörth - Ingolstadt (approx. 58 km/36 miles)
We leave the former Fugger city and cycle past Castle Bertholdsheim to Neuburg. On through the outstretching Grünauer Forst to Ingolstadt with Liebfrauen Minster, one of South Germany's most beautiful hall churches.

5th Day: Ingolstadt - Bad Gögging (approx. 40 km/25 miles)
We cycle along the Paar to Vohburg. Past the steam power station of the Isar-Amper-Werke, on to the Aura Bicycle Path, through Neustadt to Bad Gögging, where you can let yourself be spoiled in the famous Limestherme (thermal spas).

6th Day: Bad Gögging - Regensburg (approx. 45 km/28 miles)
Past the Roman citadel, Abusina, to Weltenburg - Bavaria's oldest monastery. We can come on board a Danube steamer here. It will take us past the Independence Hall on Michelsberg to Kelheim. Continue to Regensburg by bike.

7th Day: Regensburg - Straubing (approx. 53 km/33 miles)
We cycle over the Nibelungenbrucke, the Walhalla Allee and on the signed bike path "Tour the Baroque" to Donaustauf where we can see the famous Walhalla the "Tempel der deutschen Ehre". We continue the tour on the Danube-embankment and reach the first stage's destination in Straubing which is famous for its baroque houses.

8th Day: Straubing - Deggendorf (approx. 40 km/25 miles)
Today we cycle through the flat Danube valley via Oberaltaich to Metten. In Metten we should visit the Benedictine monastery with its library and the historic baroque church. We continue the tour to Deggendorf.

9th Day: Deggendorf - Passau (approx. 60 km/37 miles)
We cycle again on the "Tour de Baroque" via Niederaltaich which is one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries of Bavaria to the small village Winzer. After Osterhofen we reach Aldersbach. The Cistercian church there is one of the most beautiful churches in Bavaria. We follow the left Danube-side to the hydroelectric power plant Kachlet. After crossing the Danube we come to the last destination of the tour, the historic baroque city Passau which is situated between the three rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz.

10th Day: Passau
