Description

Majestic backdrop for comfortable cyclists – world wide known mountains of Tyrol. Zillertaler Alps, Karwendel Massif, Kitzbühler Alps and Northern Chain stand guard when you cycle on mostly flat roads through Tyrol’s valleys. Get unforgettable impressions of the country between Innsbruck and Kufstein. Friendly people, beautiful little towns like pearls on a chain on river Inn, little lakes and – always there – the majestic mountains. Many points of interest line the tours: Olympic town Innsbruck, Swarovsky crystal-world of Wattens, the smallest town of Austria, Rattenberg, silver mine in Schwaz and many fortresses and castles, bearing testimony of Tyrol’s history.

All that you can have without packing your suitcase every day – you stay for a week in a comfortable hotel, pampered by your hosts, family Wetscher and the friendly staff.

Route features:
Mostly flat to slightly undulating. Some short ascents. Mostly cycling on asphalt or very good natural roads.

Your hotel:

Daily Program

1st Day: Fügen
Individual arrival; welcome meeting with first information about the coming days and adjusting of
rental bicycles.

2nd Day: Zillertal Valley (approx. 45 km/28 miles)
Nearby Zillertal bicycle path slightly ascends (2%) to the dead end of the valley in Mayrhofen. Take the cable car up to Zillertal glacier world or visit the activity centre “Sennerei Zillertal” where you can find out everything about living with cattle on alpine pastures. On old connecting roads you return – slightly downhill – to the hotel.

3rd Day: Lake loop (approx. 50 km/31 miles)
Short cycle to Inn cycle path along the green river Inn. You follow the cycle path to Kramsach, cover a couple of meters to Lake Krummsee and Lake Reintalersee (Tyrols farm museum). Rattenberg is the oldest and smallest town of Austria, the historic old town is home for many glass blowers and cafés.

4th Day: Innsbruck & Inntal Valley (approx. 55 km/35 miles)
Today you cycle on Inn cycle path to Innsbruck, a distance of about 50 km. On your way you should visit Swarovsky-Crystal world in Wattens and the old salt town Hall in Tirol with historic mint tower. Innsbruck then with the charming old town (Golden Dachl, city tower, Helbinghouse, Royal court and Royal church), Hungerburg fortress and a modern ski-jump (with café and panorama view on the tower). Back to Zillertal Valley by train.

5th Day: Free to do whatever you like
Well, even if there still are many cycle tours around – one day should be dedicated to rest the body. Enjoy the amenities of your hotel, visit one of the many alpine pastures or take advantage of many other excursions into the surroundings.

6th Day: Schwaz and Gorge Wolfsklamm (approx. 55 km/35 miles)
Well rested you once again pedal in Inntal valley. You cycle west, but on different roads as all days before. In Schwaz the old silver mine is opened for public, in Stans the idyllic gorge Wolfsklamm and on your way back include castle Tratzberg with a very interesting audio-guided tour, telling the story of life in the castle.

7th Day: Kufstein – Pearl of the Inntal Valley (approx. 55 km/35 miles)
Hard to believe but the week is gone. Your last cycle day follows the green waters of river Inn to Kufstein, the “pearl” on green river Inn. A visit of the mighty fortress with an old organ and planetarium as well as a stroll through the old town are some highlights of the town. On your way to Kufstein Kundler Klamm gorge also is worth a visit. Return by train to Jenbach and cover the last few kilometres to the hotel on Zillertal cycle path.

8th Day: Departure
It is hard to part – especially after a week of pampering, cycling, relaxing and enjoying. But you are welcome to return.
