Very few rivers in Europe offer such a varied and exciting landscape as the Inn River. You will cycle past the imposing mountains of Tyrol, the soft, rollings hills of Upper Bavaria and the green fields and meadows of Upper Austria. Enjoy medieval villages, castles and fortresses along the Inn's famous emerald-green waters. On this tour of the Inn Bicycle path from Innsbruck to Schärding, you will cycle through three regions: Tyrol, Bavaria, and Upper Austria. The cycle path runs directly along the Inn River and is a great and enjoyable tour for all age groups.
The tour begins in Innsbruck, where you can visit the famous "Golden Roof" and enjoy a delicious coffee, before you fill your bags with sparkling crystals at the fascinating world of Swarovki Crystal in Wattens. From Austria, you approach the border with Germany and enter into the famous Bavaria region. No matter where you stop for a break on either side of the border, delicious bacon, beer and pretzels await you. Another highlight along the way is Altöttinger's pilgrimage chapel and the picturesque baroque city Schärding on River Inn, as well as the Three River City of Passau.

Day 1: Innsbruck
Individual arrival in Innsbruck and distribution of rental bikes. If you have time don’t miss the chance to explore the town, especially the famous landmark “Goldenes Dachl”, which is definitely worth a visit, as well as the Berg Isel that has breathtaking views over Innsbruck.

Day 2: Innsbruck–Zillertal Valley (28 miles/45 km)
Leave the capital of the Tyrol behind you and cycle through lovely picturesque villages and places until you reach the access of the Zillertal Valley. Enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery and take you time to explore the old town of Hall and the well-known world of the Swarovki-Crystals.

Day 3: Zillertal Valley - Kufstein (22 miles/35 km)
Numerous medieval fortresses and castles are along the cycle path until you reach the lovely village of Rattenberg. Visit the Tyrolean Museum of farmhouses in Kramsach, before you arrive in Kufstein.

Day 4: Kufstein–Rosenheim (22 miles/36 km)
Today you cycle away from the magnificent fortress of Kufstein towards the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. The River Inn is now getting broader floating in direction of Rosenheim, in antique times already a commercial centre of the Chiemsee region.

Day 5: Rosenheim–Wasserburg (18 miles/30 km)
Predominantly along the dam, partly through lowland forest you cycle to Wasserburg. The special location in a river loop makes the cityscape so unique. Wasserburg is with its historical old town, picturesque facades and narrow lanes certainly one of the most beautiful city’s along the Inn

Day 6: Wasserburg–Mühldorf (30 miles/48 km)
The path to Mühldorf leads a bit outlying of the River Inn through lovely farmland, small villages and great high grounds. Typical for Mühldorf is the long drawn-out square with its beautiful town houses.

Day 7: Mühldorf–Braunau (31 miles/50 km)
Take your time to visit two of the most popular pilgrimage sites along your tour to Braunau. Altötting is Bavaria’s most important pilgrimage place and Marktl birthplace of Pope Benedict XVI. Before you cycle to Braunau, well-worth seeing is the breathtaking city of Burghausen with Europe’s longest fortification.

Day 8: Braunau–Bad Füssing (18 miles/30km)
Today cycle through the impressive European reservation of the Lower River Inn with its species rich bird world and flora and reach Bad Füssing offside the River Inn. Enjoy this great health and spa resort.

Day 9: Bad Füssing–Passau (18 miles/30km)
Along your way to Passau picturesque baroque towns invite you for a visit: Obernberg with its lovely market square, the magnificent Monastery Reichersberg and the baroque city of Schärding with its famous Silberzeile. A confluence of River Inn and River Danube rewards Passau as one of German’s most beautiful cities.

The route follows the river valley along the Inn River. It is flat terrain almost the whole way. However, there are occasion rolling hills and three stages with some short, steep ascents.
