The route leads us partly through level, but also through hilly terrain. Between the Inn valley and the town of Salzburg we have to master a few gradients, but we can also enjoy nice descents.
Most of the time we ride on bike paths and on side streets with not much traffic, most of which are asphalted. A few short sections (max. 1.5-3.5 miles/1-2 km) have to be cycled on streets with moderate traffic.

Day 1: Salzburg
Individual arrival in the Mozart town and overnight.
Day 2: Salzburg - Chiemsee/surroundings (40 miles/64km)
Our first stage starts on the Tauern bike path along the river Salzch to Oberndorf (Silent Night Chapel). After crossing the Salzach, we pass the famous Bavarian town of Laufen on the opposite bank. Then we arrive at the warmest lake in Upper Bavaria, the Waginger See. Via Nussdorf, we reach our destination of the day, the Chiemsee (lake).
Overnight in Chieming or Traunstein.
Day 3: Chiemsee/surroundings - Wasserburg (40 miles/64km)
We cycle from Chieming via Seerbruck to the monastery of Seeon, which Mozart visited several times. He also made severl compositions there. From Seeon, we come back to the Chiemsee and go on to Breitbrunn and via Amerang to Wasserburg, where the famous artist liked to rest while on a journey.
Overnight in Wasserburg.
Day 4: Wasserburg - Kufstein (42 miles/67km)
We should not leave without a stroll through the enchanting old town, which is completely surrounded by the Inn river. The Inn will accompany uss all day, which means that we do not have to exert ourselves. Via Rosenheim, we reach Kufstein, the "Pearl of Tyrol".
Overnight in Kufstein.
Day 5: Kufstein - Kirchdorf/St. Johann (28 miles/45km)
This morning the Inn accompanies us once more for the first kms till Ebbs, where we ride into the little bit hilly "Kaiserwinkl" of Tyrol. We pass the village of Walchsee and cycle via Waidach and Kössen, through the imposing mountain landscape of Tyrol to Kirchdorf or St. Johann.
Overnight in St. Johann.
Day 6: Kirchdorf/St. Johann - Bad Reichenhall/Bayerisch Gmain (30 miles/48km)
Today we cycle to Waibring and Lofer, two villages where Mozart stopped on his journeys to the South. From Lofer, we ride along the river Saalach on a wildly romantic trail via Unken and Schneizlreuth, to Bad Reichenhall. Mozart made a trip to this well-known spa during his last stay in Salzburg in 1780.
Overnight in Bad Reichenhall or Bayerisch Gmain.
Day 7: Bad Reichenhall/Bayerisch Gmain - Berchtesgaden (14 miles/23km)
This day's stage is very short because we sould have the opportunity to spend enough time in the world-famous spa Berchtesgaden, overtopped by the "Watzmann" (mountain). We can relax in the thermal bath. Those who want to cycle more in this impressive landscape will be expected by the lake Königsee with its fascinating wings. The steep rocks surrounding the lake will impress us.
Overnight in Berchtesgaden.
Day 8: Berchtesgaden - Salzburg (17 miles/28km)
Soon we will arrive at out final point of the tour, Salzburg. Therefore we have enough time to make an enlarged individual sightseeing tour in the Mozart town. We should see Mozart's birthplace, the re-opened place of his residence, the fortress, Hellbrunn palace, Mirabell palace, and so on. You will get your luggage at 6 p.m. at the latest. Individual departure or additional nights. We recommend to book additional nights in Salzburg for trips to the imposing "Salzburger Flachgau" and to St. Gilgen, the Mozart town on the Wolfgangsee (Mozart's mother was born there, Mozart memorial site, Mozart fountain).

Austria sits at the crossroads of Central Europe, once the Habsburg Empire’s seat of power that ruled Europe for over 6 centuries. While Habsburg power ended after World War I, Austria remains a prominent country. Today it is known for its idyllic and majestic landscape of mountains, green valleys, rivers and storybook villages. Along with such a landscape are the cultural centers of Vienna and Salzburg. The elegant city of Vienna reveals the glory days of the Habsburg Empire, featuring the Hofburg Imperial Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and impressive Opera House. Salzburg, home of Mozart and The Sound of Music, has Europe’s largest intact medieval fortress overlooking the cobblestone streets of its historic Old Town.
