Day 1: Salzburg – Burghausen (34 miles/55 km)
Individual arrival in Salzburg before 9 am. After adjusting the bicycles to suit you, you will leave the festival city of Salzburg and take the path along the bank of the Salzach to Oberndorf. It was here that the Christmas carol “Silent Night, Holy Night” was written in 1818, as the little “Silent Night Chapel” reminds us. In the afternoon you will reach your destination for the day: Burghausen, with the longest castle buildings in Europe.
Overnight in Burghausen.
Day 2: Burghausen – Schärding (approx. 42miles/68 km)
After riding through the largest wooded region of the Inn district – Weilhart Forest – you come upon the Inn-Salzach view, where the Salzach flows into the Inn. You will pass through Braunau and come then to Obernberg, a thousand-year-old town with an extremely beautiful market square. Not long after that you arrive at Reichersberg Abbey, where the Augustine canons have lived for more than 900 years. From Reichersberg it is only another 17 km to Schärding, where your hotel is.
Overnight in Schärding.
Day 3: Schärding – Schlögen (37miles/59 km)
Take your leave of the beautiful baroque town of Schärding with its enchanting “Silberzeile” and ride via Wernstein along the Inn again to the diocesan town of Passau, which once enjoyed great prestige. After an individual sightseeing-tour you have the possibility to listen to an organ concert (except on Sundays and public holidays) on the largest church organ of the world at 12.00 o`clock in the cathedral. The Inn and the Ilz flow into the Danube at Passau, which is why the town is also called the “three rivers town”. Now follow the Danube past Engelhartszell to your hotel in the upper Danube valley.
Overnight in Schlogen.
Day 4: Schlögen – Linz (34miles/54 km)
Around the Schlögen Danube loop you ride today through some of the most beautiful countryside to Aschach and on to Wilhering Abbey. After passing through Ottensheim you reach Linz, the capital of Upper Austria.
Overnight in Linz.
Day 5: Linz – Grein/Ardagger (41 miles/65 km)
You leave Linz riding out past the industrial area, and on reaching Asten Danube power station turn to the inner parts of the country and Mauthausen, where you follow the Danube again as far as the next power station in Wallsee. You then ride through the fertile Machland region to Grein, where a guided tour will acquaint you with the old barge town with the oldest municipal theatre still playing.
Overnight in Grein.
Day 6: Grein/Ardagger – Melk/Emmersdorf (34 miles/55 km)
At Persenbeug you enter the Nibelungengau, a new stretch of the Danube at the end of the Strudengau. Past Marbach, the pilgrimage center of Maria Taferl greets you from the hills, and after passing the Danube power station you arrive in Melk (famous monastery).
Overnight in Melk.
Day 7: Melk/Emmersdorf – Krems – Wien (25miles/40 km per bike, train journey)
Today you ride through the beautiful Wachau region, well known for its choice wines. Your route takes you through Spitz and Weißenkirchen. The best known town in the Wachau is Dürnstein, where Richard the Lion Heart was once taken captive. The destination of your cycling trip is Krems, where you will hand over your bicycles and travel the rest of the way to Vienna by train (tickets have to be organized by yourself).
Overnight in Wien.
Day 8: Vienna

"The holiday was fantastic. Everything was well organized. Hotels were all excellent and my backpack was always waiting for me when I got there and all had great breakfasts.
"I loved the rides and managed to lose about 8kgs (I needed to). The section from Passau to Krems was much easier, but I’m glad I did the Salzburg to Passau leg. The weather in Salzburg was rainy when we arrived, however, it cleared up the following day and it was perfect for the whole ride - couldn't have asked for better.
"Thanks once again for organizing the trip and would have no hesitation in recommending your company in the future."
- Mike S.

Austria sits at the crossroads of Central Europe, once the Habsburg Empire’s seat of power that ruled Europe for over 6 centuries. While Habsburg power ended after World War I, Austria remains a prominent country. Today it is known for its idyllic and majestic landscape of mountains, green valleys, rivers and storybook villages. Along with such a landscape are the cultural centers of Vienna and Salzburg. The elegant city of Vienna reveals the glory days of the Habsburg Empire, featuring the Hofburg Imperial Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and impressive Opera House. Salzburg, home of Mozart and The Sound of Music, has Europe’s largest intact medieval fortress overlooking the cobblestone streets of its historic Old Town.

Liability:
We are liable within the framework of the obligation to exercise diligence of a merchant for the trueness of all stated services at the time of printing our catalogue, for the proper selection and mediation of the service carriers (hotels, transport companies) and a faithful journey preparation and processing. We are not responsible if included sightseeing is not possible because of uncontrollable reasons (refurbishing, barriers, construction work).
Participation in the booked cycle tour is at your own risk. It is up to you to decide if you are physically fit enough for the cycle tour. You are responsible for the observation of traffic regulations. The carriage terms of transport companies are valid. Our liability is limited on the triple travel price in case of claims of damages for unlawful conduct, which were not caused intentionally or with gross negligence by us or as far as we are alone responsible because of the blame of one of our service carriers.
