Day 1: Embarkation at Dubrovnik and Šipan Island (6 miles/10 km)
Individual arrival at Dubrovnik. After lunch, our journey begins with a short cruise to the island of Šipan, the largest of the Elaphiti Islands. A pleasant bike ride takes us in the afternoon past numerous luxury villas of the rich and noble of Dubrovnik, through green forests, fertile valleys and subtropical parks. Overnight on Šipan.
Day 2: Mljet Island (22 miles/35 km)
In the morning, the ship takes us on a 2-hour-crossing to the "honey island" of Mljet. Here, starting from the ferry harbor of Sobra, we bicycle to Pomena, where the ship awaits us for lunch. 90% of Mljet Island is covered by forest and thus is one of the most densely wooded islands in the entire Mediterranean. Homer also mentions it in his Odyssey, making it the home of the nymph Calypso, who kept the famous hero here for seven years. A short cycle tour leads us in the afternoon into the National Park of Mljet, where in the 12th century, Benedictine monks founded a monastery, in a fabulous location on a small island, which we can reach by a small excursion boat.
Day 3: Lastovo Island (19 miles/30 km)
Lastovo is one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Adriatic. Already the emperor, Augustus appreciated its mild climate and in Roman times it was even named "Augusta Insula" after him. The islanders, little more than 1,000, still live today mainly off fishing the extremely rich waters, agriculture and wine culture. Here grows the yellow-golden white wine "Marastina," which is known well beyond Croatia's borders. After an extensive exploration ofthe island, the ship takes us on a long cruise to Vis.
Day 4: Vis Island (20 miles/32 km)
Vis is the Croatian island located furthest from the mainland. Two thousand years ago, it was a Greek colony by the name of Issa. On account of its strategically important location, it was along with Lastovo a military zone prohibited to foreign tourists until 1995. After lunch, the ship takes us to the island of Hvar. The island capital by the same name is one of the high points of every journey to Dalmatia. On a long walk, we become acquainted with the beautiful medieval town center and the Spanish Fortress rising high above it. Afterwards, we may end the day at our leisure in a cozy wine bar.
Day 5: Korcula Island (26 miles/16 km; 7 miles/12 km)
After the cruise to the Island KorÄÂula, we first cycle from Vela Luka to Prigradica where we meet the boat for lunch. In the afternoon, we explore the eastern part of the island which is known as one of the most beautiful ones of Dalmatia. A short cycle tour on an even road leads us from Rascice to Korcula town. The island capital vies with Venice about the honor of being the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. There is enough time to discover the fantastic old town with its fish bone like alleys.
Day 6: Pelješac Peninsula (19 miles/30 km)
In the morning, the ship is cruising with us to the Peninsular Pelješac to Trstenik. Pelješac already impresses from far away with the 3,280 ft. high Sv. Ilja massif. The lovely wines named Plavac and DingaÄÂ originate from this place and its local winegrowing area. Today's bicycle ride takes us from Trstenik to Prapratno, where the boat will wait for us with a delicious lunch. In the afternoon we sail to Slano on the Croatian mainland.
Day 7: Mainland around Slano (12 miles/20 km)
After breakfast we cycle from Slano to Trsteno, where the boat awaits us for the last cruise to Dubrovnik. After lunch, our floating abode makes fast in Dubrovnik, so that we’ll have enough time to participate in the guided tour through this town listed as a World Heritage site and for a walk to the impressive city walls. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cozy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
Day 8: Disembarkation
After breakfast, disembarkation until 9 a.m. and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.
Changes
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions, and where required by organizational necessities.
Sundays: May 6, 20; Jun 3, 10; Sep 23; Oct 14 and 21, 2012
Please note
The October 21st departure date is a special tour from Dubrovnik from Trogir and is on the San Snova boat. The tour is still 7 nights and is the same prices as seen for the San Snova boat on the prices and packages page.
For all special tours, a detailed itinerary is available upon request.

Most of our ships are traditional motor powered sailing yachts. They are not luxury steamers but rather boats with a lot of charm and style. Their owners who frequently also captain may have completed some additional modifications to their ships over the winter. That is why the descriptions of the boats may no longer be completely accurate.
If for whatever reason one of the ships we chartered would be cancelled due to unexpected circumstances, the tour operator will arrange a worthy replacement and will duly inform the participants about this change. You will find the name of your ship on your booking confirmation.
Some of our boats are equipped with sails. They are an impressive adornment recalling old tradition. Sailing is a unique experience for many guests. If weather conditions are good the captains may hoist the sails once a week. However sailing is slow and in order to make quick progress the captain will usually rely on the engine.
San Snova (shower/toilet in each cabin)
The MS San Snova is a brand-new wooden motor sailer that was launched in spring 2009 and made exclusively for Island Hopping cruises. The ship, constructed entirely of oak, was built in three years by the Scherka family in their own carpentry workshop as family project.
The ship meets the highest expectations in regard to comfort, elegance and style, combining romantic seafaring with modernity and functionalism. Young captain Tonci, his brother Josip, and ever-cheerful Jelena pride themselves in the meticulous appearance of the ship and the cordiality on board.
The fittings of the cabins as well as the saloon and the outside area are of superior quality with many carefully created details. The roomy sun deck offers comfortable mats for relaxing and lounge chairs are found on the afterdeck. So let yourself be pampered end enjoy the "Dream of Dreams" (San Snova), as the Scherka family named their new ship!
Cabins
The cabins are equipped simply and functionally and have private baths with shower and toilet on all of our boats. There is enough space for sleeping and storing your luggage.
Due to the shape of the ship's hull the size of the cabins may vary. Price differentiations are only made with respect to "above deck" and "below deck" cabins. Cabin allotments are the responsibility of the tour operator and cannot be influenced by guests or tour guides on site.
Electricity and water on board
Electricity and water are of course provided on board but not in unlimited amounts. The water tanks are filled according to the number of people on board. There is enough water available for washing and showers even if the tanks cannot be refilled for several days. However, we presuppose that all passengers use this valuable resource sparingly. The ships also use a central heater for the showers. This also means that there is only enough warm water if people use the showers only for as long as it is really necessary (for example: turn off the water while soaping up).
The boat uses a 220 V generator which is not run constantly. The power supply on board is accessible with Euro-wall-sockets (as customary in Germany). Guests from UK and other countries with different socket systems are kindly requested to bring their own appropriate adaptors.
Catering on board
Meals included in the price of the tour consist of full-board. The food served on board is typically Mediterranean and higher nutritional demands of bikers are taken into account.
Breakfast on board generally includes at least bread, butter, cheese, ham, coffee and tea. For lunch, the chef generally serves light fish dishes or vegetarian meals. For dinner, there are usually fish or meat dishes.
Beverages
The saloon on the ship is a restaurant, lounge, and bar all in one. Here you can always get cool drinks – with or without alcohol. Generally, the crew keeps track of your drinks in a list that is tallied up for payment at the end of the trip. Naturally the drinks on board are slightly more expensive than in the Supermarket around the corner but after all you are in a small "floating restaurant." Just as in every bar or restaurant it is not allowed to bring your own drinks on board. For bottled mineral water (without fizz) a flat rate of 20,00 euros per person/week is charged. Children under 18 pay 10,00 euros per person/week. This flat rate includes all water consumed on board and on bike tours.
Local tax
At the end of the trip, 20,00 euro are to be paid to the captain for the visitor's tax and local charges. For children under 18 years, you have to pay 10,00 euro for the visitor‘s tax and local charges.

21-gear road bikes, "Islandhopping" brands
If you have reserved a rental bicycle, you receive a 21-gear aluminum Islandhopping touring bike on arrival. These bikes are made especially for us and are the result of our long experience in cycling tourism. The men's bikes have a frame size of 56 cm or 60 cm, and the frames of the women’s bikes are 46 cm and 52 cm. All the Islandhopping bicycles have a fender, a kickstand, a rack and a quick release seat. Our bicycles are deliberately not equipped with bottle holders in order to avoid accidents.
Alternative: Electronically assisted bike, Swiss brand FLYER
The i:SY-Flyer ECO, a relatively light model of 50 lbs., is a compact bike with a special low frame geometry for easy mounting and 20-inch wheels. The handlebar "Speedlifter Twist" is turnable, making the bike space-efficient for storage. This E-Bike model is equipped with an 8-gear-Shimano hub gearshift (Nexus) as well as Shimano V-brakes. A 10-amp battery along with an 8-amp back-up allow for unlimited riding pleasure. On each of our ships in Croatia 2-5 E-Bikes are available and can be rented for a weekly fee of 140 euros. Due to the limited number of E-Bikes a reservation in good time is required.
The use of rucksacks (except for hydration packs) is in our opinion less practical than handlebar bags or saddlebags. The later are more easily accessible. If necessary we supply you with a waterproof saddlebag by Ortlieb - a practical way of carrying drinks, bathing gear, camera etc.
Should you prefer your own saddle (without the post) or your own click pedal please bring them with you and let your tour guide attach them to your rental bicycle.
Obligatory safety helmets
In order to guarantee optimum protection, we request that you bring your own helmet and - for your own safety - wear it on all bike tours. We deliberately do not supply rental helmets because only a well-fitting helmet can offer a certain amount of protection.

This region is relatively mountainous. This tour is thus one of the more demanding in our program. The bike routes require a basic level of fitness, which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The daily routes of 12 to 27 mi. cover hilly or mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. The routes can reach an altitude of 650 to 1,300 ft. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs where pushing your bike is permitted. The roads are mostly asphalted and usually there is little traffic.
The tour guides will inform you about the course of the tour in due time. You can always choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead. You can also decide each day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually using the maps provided or join one of the tourguides.
We generally believe that only children with a lot of cycling experience and in a good physical condition, aged 10 years and older, are able to master the bike tours with their own. Furthermore, we offer bicycles for rental only for people of 5 ft height or more. Please note that Croatia has a helmet duty for children up to age 16.
This tour is rated Moderate and is for cyclists in average physical condition.

A rich, cultural history and diverse, majestic landscape describes the country of Croatia. Calling their country “Our Beautiful Homeland”, the Croats offer a warm welcome to visitors who want to experience the wonders of Croatia. Flat plains along the Hungarian border, low mountains and highlands near the Adriatic coastline and over 1,000 islands explain why Croatia is one of few nations to have three distinct climate zones.
Diversity continues in the Croatian culture with four cultural circles thriving together: Western, Eastern and Central Europe, and Mediterranean. Each culture retains its unique customs, including lace-making in Lepoglava, bell ringers in the Kasta region and Ojkanje singing in the Dalmatia region. Cuisine varies in the coastal region that favors seafood specialties, olive oil and prosciutto compared to the continental region that favors meat products, freshwater fish and vegetables. Other highlights include Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace in Split, a Roman amphitheatre in Pula and the city of Dubrovnik, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic."

Alterations that become necessary after the finalization of the contract and that are made in good faith are permitted if they are not substantial, and do not change the overall character of the trip. We assume no liability for information in the brochures of our partners or in our own brochure, even if we issued them.
Liability
We are liable within the scope of a merchant’s duty of care for diligent trip preparation, careful selection and supervision of participating agencies, accuracy of service and activity descriptions, and standard provision of the services agreed upon. Our liability for damages other than personal injury is limited to three times the cost of the trip, provided the damages are neither intentional nor due to gross negligence. This limitation is still in effect if we are responsible for the damage due to the fault of a service provider. If we are solely procurers of foreign services, we are liable only for proper procurement, not for the services. We are liable for damage or loss of luggage up to the amount of 250 € only if the damage was caused by us and was indicated to us immediately. Participation
A vacation that involves exercise and physical activity requires greater commitment than a conventional package tour. It is your duty to make certain that you are up to the physical challenges of such a trip. The pre-condition for a bike-tour is that you are able to handle a bicycle in street traffic and on unpaved paths under any weather conditions. If you rent a bike, it is your responsibility to check the condition of the bike, particularly the brakes. You bear sole responsibility for adhering to all legal regulations at home and abroad, particularly regulations about travel documents and cross-border trade. When traveling across the exterior borders of the EU, your luggage must remain unlocked, to facilitate passage through customs. If your baggage is searched, you will be notified about it upon arrival at the destination. If problems with the procurement of the services occur, you are required to help within the scope of legal regulations, in order to avoid potential damages or keep them at a minimum and report any complaints to us immediately.
Duty of Care
During the duration of the trip, you are liable for damage to or loss of bicycles and any equipment entrusted to you. For guided tours, this is only valid if you have separated yourself from the group, have disobeyed instructions from the tour guides, or caused the damage or loss intentionally, through negligence or gross negligence.
Warranty
You can demand redress if the trip services are not rendered according to the contract. This can be solved by us providing compensation of equal or greater value. In the case of disproportionate effort, corrective action can be denied. For the period in which the services that have not been rendered according to contract, you can request a reduction in travel price after your return. The pre-condition for this is the immediate notification of our deficiencies or those of our tour guides, so that we have the opportunity to find a remedy. Tour guides are not authorized to recognize claims. Independent of a reduction in travel price, you can demand compensation due to non-compliance with the travel contract, unless we are not responsible for the defect.
Limitation of claim
Claims must be made in writing within one month of the contractual end of the trip. The statute of limitation for claims based on the contract expires six months after the contractual end of the trip.
