This self-guided bike tour covers the most important and most beautiful sites of Dalmatia, the coastal part of Croatia.
Dubrovnik’s historical sites as well as the old town can be seen in one day. In this day you will have time to relax, besides visiting the sites. It is very touristic town, but worth visiting. You should definitely walk the city walls (if they are not packed with guests from tour ships) from where you will have great view on the old town and endless sea.
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Dubrovnik and transfer to peninsula Peljesac, where your bike tours starts. This is due to heavy traffic coming to/from Dubrovnik on the only road that connects Dubrovnik with the rest of Croatia. You will spend two nights in Korcula and Hvar town, both being probably most beautiful and well preserved ancient towns.
You will have two days on each island and plenty of time to explore the coast, rural and ancient villages, eat great homemade food, and choose your bike distance, from easy to very long and hard rides. Connection between those two islands, Hvar and Korcula, is done with a private 8- or 9-meter power boat, which is very safe and stable – definitely another highlight of your bike trip. Finish your self guided tour in 1700-year-old Split, cultural and administrative center of Dalmatia.
Easy biking is possible in Split as well. Connections between Peljesac and Korcula, Hvar and Split are provided by official ferry company, which is another authentic experience. Both of those ferries depart several times a day, so you can decide when to leave. Of course, all of this will be explained to your during the welcome briefing. Being locals we can proudly say this tour covers the most beautiful area of Croatian coast in a very short time!

Day 1: Arrival in Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is located at the very tip of Croatia's coast on the Adriatic Sea, and the remarkably well preserved Old Town has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy walking the perimeter of the walls and sea towers that encircle it. The walls are several meters thick and served as fortifications as far back as the 14th and 15th centuries with stunning panoramic views!
After a full day exploring the winding city streets, enjoy dinner by the sea and stroll down to Placa Stradun. Saunter through Old Town Dubrovnik and savor its charming bars and restaurants, often with live music playing, and visitors wandering in and out at their leisure.
Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 2: Peljesac Bike ride to Korcula (37 miles/60 km)
Transfer from Dubrovnik to Ston, bike ride to Korcula.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Dubrovnik just after breakfast (10:00 AM) and shuttle to Ston, salt producing village on Peljesac peninsula. Visit the 14th century town, with the longest fortified walls in Europe – 5.5 km. Ston was important town for Dubrovnik Republic, which was the strongest and most prosperous in the 14th century. We will do the bike fitting in Ston, and from there you start with your bike ride, along Peljesac peninsula. You will be riding along vineyards of Dingac and Postup, made from the Plavac Mali vines, close cousin to Zinfandel of California, and Primitivo from Calabria. We will point out some great wineries where you can taste the Peljesac’s vines! Bike to Orebic, from where you will take ferry to Island Korcula, your home for next two nights.
Overnight in Korcula
NOTE: Today's ride is 60 km/38 miles and hilly! If you want to make it shorter, it is possible, as we can organize that you start biking closer to Orebic, which is where the bike ride ends. Once on Korcula islands, you will have additional 3 km/2 miles to your hotel.
Day 3: Exploring Korcula Island (28 miles/45 km; extra 34 miles/55 km)
Korcula loop ride.
Today you will explore the island of Korcula; its hidden coves, beautiful old towns, unique small villages and dark pine forests that cover the island. There are few options today, either ride on easier coastal road or do some climbing and rolling hills. Whatever you choose as a bike ride today, you will be making your way past vineyards, olive groves and dense woods. We will suggest some great places for lunch, where you will be tasting the traditional style; like home made gnocchi, homemade macaroni, pasticada, and other meals which have been prepared by our ancestors. You might like to know that Korcula is producing some of the best Croatian white wines: Posip, Rukatac or Grk, which will just add flavor to your lunch or dinner.
Another option today is just to relax and wander in Korcula - Venetian fortified town and narrow streets which are irresistible to today's visitor, just as they impressed medieval travel writers like Marco Polo, who began his life journey in this town.
Overnight in Korcula.
Day 4: Islands Korcula and Hvar (29 miles/46 km; extra 37 miles/60 km)
Bike to Vela Luka, private fast boat transfer to Hvar
Today you ride the whole island of Korcula, about 29 miles to Vela Luka. Enjoy the scenic south side of the island, with amazing views on beautiful hidden beaches and coves, ride along the small villages and hamlets. Ride through the well known vineyards of Posip and try some of it in charming vineries you will find along the way. In the early afternoon you have private fast boat transfer to Hvar.
Spend the afternoon in Hvar and visit its main attractions including the 7th century AD walls, Venetian loggia, and the oldest municipal Theatre in Europe or just have a coffee or bevanda in one of the most beautiful squares of Mediterranean. Hvar is becoming most chic and popular destination of Dalmatia!
Overnight in Hvar.
Day 5: Hvar (optional 12 miles/20 km)
Free day in Hvar.
This is very difficult day, as you have to decide for the best option, and all of them are great! Do you want to head for the beach, or have a short bike ride, or just chill in the town in one of its many cafes and watch the world go by, or take a sailing or sea kayak trip to some of the islands around, maybe sunset sail, discover some great places followed with great lunch and swim, your choice, … You will find all of these options described in your day sheets!
Overnight in Hvar.
Day 6: Hvar Island Bike Ride and Split (19-28 miles/30-45 km)
Hvar bike ride and Split.
Today’s ride starts with a climb, along the abandoned villages and lavender fields. Enjoy the scenery, endless sea that is surrounding the island of Hvar along with small islands and islets around. Once on top of the island, you will see a lot of stone piles, man made in order to clear the land so citizens could plant lavender or similar crops!
Riding on the south side of the islands you will be passing among lavender fields, olive groves, and vineyards. Not to mention it is UNESCO world heritage site. The island is noted for its lush vegetation of palm trees, agaves, myrtle, rosemary, pine woods and extensive lavender fields and history dating back to Greek times! Cycle through scenic and mostly flat road on the north side of the island, passing coastal villages of Jelsa and Vrboska.
Late in the afternoon, you will take a boat that takes you to Split, a 1700 years old town and now day’s administrative and cultural centre of Dalmatia. Take a walk into old town, explore its narrow streets, meet the locals, see the one of the biggest fish markets in Croatia and enjoy the wine cellars before a dinner tonight.
Overnight in Split.
Day 7: End of tour (optional 9-12 miles/15-20 km)
Optional easy bike ride in Split
If you have time today, after the breakfast you might want to take easy bike ride along Marjan hill, famous recreational place of people of Split. Enjoy the rolling coastal ride before easy climb to the top of Marjan, from where you will take the last view on Diocletian’s Palace, and all the islands you were biking on last few days. We will meet you after the lunch!
