Countless islands in crystal clear water, deeply fissured cliffs, picturesque beaches and numerous small bays - that's the Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic. Every island is different. Each has its own history.
We spend a week discovering the landscape and people of this unique island world by bike independently and with the aid of knowledgeable tour guides. On a romantic motor yacht, our floating accommodation, we discover the charm of the Adriatic in our own special way. We cycle off after a hearty breakfast. At midday, we meet the ship at a harbor for lunch.
In the evening the ship awaits us in the next harbor so that we can enjoy fantastic cuisine as the sun sets which is followed by a stroll through a historic harbor town. Finally, we settle down in our cabins to sleep or stay on deck under a thousand stars.

Day 1: Omišalj – Cres (17 miles/28 km)
Individual arrival in Omišalj, a nice little harbor village on the island of Krk. The cabins on the motor yacht will be ready for you from 11 a.m. At 1 p.m., the ship takes us to the island of Cres in about four hours. From the town of Cres you cycle to the village of Predoscica. In the evening, we can join our tour guide in a short tour through the old town of Cres.
Day 2: Islands of Cres and Lošinj (28 miles/45 km)
In the morning, our ship takes us to Martinscica. From there, we cycle on the east side of the island among pine, fig and laurel trees to Osor, an artist town, where we have lunch on the ship. Afterwards there is time for a swim in the bay with crystal clear water. In the afternoon, we leave Osor crossing over a swing bridge to reach the island of Lošinj. We bike along the panoramic route to Mali Lošinj, an old seafaring and health resort. The ship awaits us in the large harbor with its numerous cafés and colorful houses. We spend the night in the harbor of Mali Lošinj.
Day 3: Islands of Lošinj and Molat (12+6 miles/20+10 km)
Along the seaside walk, we cycle to the south of Lošinj and visit the picturesque small harbor of Veli Lošinj before we meet the ship for lunch. In the afternoon, we cross over to the island of Molat where we can do another short bike tour. Finally, we stay overnight in the quiet harbor of Molat.
Day 4: Island of Dugi Otok (28 miles/45 km)
During breakfast, the ship leaves and takes us past many small islands to the "spice island" of Dugi Otok. Our bike tour starts in the bay of Bozava which is surrounded by woods of pine, agaves and tamarisk trees, and we ride on a road almost free of traffic. In the harbor of Savar, we meet the ship for lunch. While cycling in the afternoon to the fishermen village of Sali there are some terrific views of the deep blue sea and the surrounding islands.
Day 5: Island of Pag (12 miles/20 km)
After a cruise till lunchtime, we reach the island of Pag. In the harsh but delightful landscape of the island we come across many fig and olive trees. Over the centuries, the inhabitants have built numerous stone walls for protection against the wind. Starting from Novalja, we cycle on the narrow peninsula until we reach the sea from where the ship take us to Rab. The island of Rab is one of the sunniest places in Europe. The town of Rab, the fortified capital of the island, was built in the middle ages on a wedge shaped headland and marks one of the highlights of the trip. The four famous bell towers are the symbol of the adorned beauty of the town. After dinner, we can explore the narrow alleys with numerous cosy cafés.
Day 6: Island of Rab (15 miles/25 km)
We bike along the coast to the east side of the island, an area with virtually no vegetation, whose rough and cliffy rocks remind us of a lunar landscape. The road leads us to a bay with a sandy beach, which is rather atypical for the Kvarner islands. At lunchtime, the ship awaits us in the harbor directly in front of the old town of Rab. After a swim break, the ship takes us over to the neighboring island of Krk where we spend the evening in the historical town of Krk.
Day 7: Island of Krk (28 miles/45 km)
We cycle over the ridge of the island which is covered by fragrant macchia to a valley of vineyards and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town built on a cliff and surrounded by vineyards is the home of the famous white wine Zlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The way leads us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj. On our way, we have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cozy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
Day 8: Departure from Omišalj
After breakfast, disembarkation until 9 a.m. and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.

Please note that this tour will generally be guided in the German language. One of the guides will translate into English for non-German speaking participants.
Most of our ships are traditional motor powered sailing yachts. They are not luxury steamers, but rather boats with a lot of charm and style. As some of the boats may have been modified over the winter, the descriptions may no longer be completely accurate.
If, for whatever reason, one of the ships we charter is cancelled due to unexpected circumstances the tour operator, will arrange a worthy replacement and will inform the participants about this change. You will find the name of your ship on your booking confirmation.
Adonis boat (shower/toilet in each cabin)
The Adonis is a 79 feet (24 m) long and 20 feet (6 m) wide two-masted yacht that was built in 1975. Captain Tihomir rebuilt the ship for cruising in 2002-2003 and each of the 10 cabins was furnished with a shower and toilet. There are 8 caibns on deck, each of which has a door that opens to the outside. Captian Tihomir's crew offers excellent service and cuisine with delicious typical Croatian food.
If you'd like to be shown the most beautiful bays for swimming, Tihomir is a proven specialists, because he knwos the water of the Kvarner Bay like the back of his hand. The cozy saloon invite you to spend time with new friends. On the covered rear deck of the ship is an iviting table situated wher eyou can enjoy your meals. A sundeck measures 280 square feet (85 square m) offers enough room for enjoying the sun while under way.
Linda ship (shower/toilet in each cabin)
Captain Damir's Linda is a real wooden and elegant motor yacht without masts. When Damir rebuilt and extended the ship in the fall of 2006 specifically for our requirements, our entire Islandhopping know-how went into the task as well. The MY Linda is among the larger ships in our Croatian fleet.
Tarin ship (shower/toilet in each cabin)
The Tarin, painted dark green with white stripes, catches the eye from far away in every harbor. 11 cabins are at the guests' disposal. The cabin furnishings are a demonstration of the great care Captain Nevio has invested in building his treasure. Light-colored wood, with curtains at the large windows and the charming furnishings of the spacious cabins make you feel right at home on this ship. Lounging mattresses on deck and shaded tables for outside dining guarantees a cozy and relaxed time on board.
This feeling of well-being is enhanced by Nevio and his crew. Here the captain himself - together with his "Admiral" Zeljko - entertains his guests by playing the accordion and the guitar.
With good reason, the Tarin is also the favorite boat of many of our tour guides, who always find it particularly hard to say goodbye when it is time to return home. After all, this is their home away from home.
Local tax
At the end of the trip, 20,00 euro are to be paid to the captain for the visitor's tax and local charges. For children under 18 years, you have to pay 10,00 euro for the visitor's tax and local charges.

Hybrid touring bike, 21-gear, "Islandhopping" brand
If you have reserved a rental bicycle, you receive a 21-gear aluminum Islandhopping touring bike on arrival. These bikes are made especially for us and are the result of our long experience in cycling tourism. The men's bikes have a frame size of 56 cm or 60 cm, and the frames of the women's bikes are 46 cm and 52 cm. All the Islandhopping bicycles have a fender, a kickstand, a rack and a quick release seat. Our bicycles are deliberately not equipped with bottle holders in order to avoid accidents.
Alternative: electronically assited bike, Swiss brand FLYER
The i:SY-Flyer ECO, a relatively light model of 50 lbs., is a compact bike with a special low frame geometry for easy mounting and 20-inch wheels. The handlebar "Speedlifter Twist" is turnable, making the bike space-efficient for storage. This E-Bike model is equipped with an 8-gear-Shimano hub gearshift (Nexus) as well as Shimano V-brakes. A 10-amp battery along with an 8-amp back-up allow for unlimited riding pleasure. On each of our ships in Croatia 2-5 E-Bikes are available and can be rented for a weekly fee of 140 euros.
The use of rucksacks (except for hydration packs) is in our opinion less practical than handlebar bags or saddlebags. The later are more easily accessible. If necessary we supply you with a waterproof saddlebag by Ortlieb - a practical way of carrying drinks, bathing gear, camera etc.
Should you prefer your own saddle (without the post) or your own click pedal please bring them with you and let your tour guide attach them to your rental bicycle.

The Kvarner Bay are relatively mountainous. This tour is one of the more demanding in our program. The bike routes require a basic level of fitness which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The daily routes of 12 to 27 mi. cover hilly or mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. The routes can reach an altitude of 650 to 1,300 ft. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs where pushing your bike is permitted. The roads are mostly asphalted and usually there is little traffic.
The tour guides will inform you about the course of the tour in due time. You can always choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead. You can also decide each day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually using the maps provided or join one of the tour guides.
In general, we would advise that this holiday is only suitable for children with a lot of cycling experience, aged 10 years and older and in a good physical condition. Furthermore, we offer bicycle rental only for people of 5 ft. height or more. For smaller children, there are limited number of bicycle seats available (reservation required).
This tour is rated Moderate and is for cyclists in good physical condition.

"We had a great trip. I've ridden many bike events – as leader and as a participant – and this was wonderful. The food was unbelievable. We're considering another next year. Booking through you helped a bunch, as we didn't have to hassle with currency exchange. (Did I say the meals were too good?)"

A rich, cultural history and diverse, majestic landscape describes the country of Croatia. Calling their country “Our Beautiful Homeland”, the Croats offer a warm welcome to visitors who want to experience the wonders of Croatia. Flat plains along the Hungarian border, low mountains and highlands near the Adriatic coastline and over 1,000 islands explain why Croatia is one of few nations to have three distinct climate zones.
Diversity continues in the Croatian culture with four cultural circles thriving together: Western, Eastern and Central Europe, and Mediterranean. Each culture retains its unique customs, including lace-making in Lepoglava, bell ringers in the Kasta region and Ojkanje singing in the Dalmatia region. Cuisine varies in the coastal region that favors seafood specialties, olive oil and prosciutto compared to the continental region that favors meat products, freshwater fish and vegetables. Other highlights include Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace in Split, a Roman amphitheatre in Pula and the city of Dubrovnik, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic."

The pre-condition for this is the immediate notification of our deficiencies or those of our tour guides, so that we have the opportunity to find a remedy. Tour guides are not authorized to recognize claims. Independent of a reduction in travel price, you can demand compensation due to non-compliance with the travel contract, unless we are not responsible for the defect.
