The diversified islands of the Kvarner Bay are situated between the Croatian mainland and the Istrian peninsular. During our one week stay aboard the charming motor sailer, the islands Cres, Lošinj, Molat, Dugi Otok, Pag, Rab and Krk are discovered by mountain bike. Our tour guides accompany us along unmarked tracks, only known by insiders and lead you to the secret spots of this region.
The mountainous area includes some steep ascents which require a good fitness level. The terrain offers everything for the mountain biker heart: relaxing nature routes, wide gravel roads and technical challenging single trails. After each tour, colorful port towns invite for an ample stroll and the evenings can be spent in cozy cafés or bars along the water fronts.
This tour is often offered parallel to the trekking bike cruise in the Kvarner Bay on the same boat. In this case, one tour guide will cycle with the mountain bikers while the other will accompany the trekking cyclists.

Day 1: Omišalj – Cres
Individual arrival in Omišalj, a picturesque fishing harbor on the island of Krk. Embarkation takes place from 14 to 14:30 pm. Use the time until the departure of the boat to take a refreshing swim in the Adria and taste the delicious ice cream in the port. At 15 pm the boat takes off to Cres town/island where we arrive after about 4 hrs. We take a walk through the old town where the architecture is clearly influenced by the Venetians.
Day 2: Islands of Cres and Lošinj (27 miles/43 km; 2,460 ft/750 m altitude difference)
Today’s trip starts in Cres and leads us first to Valun. We bike on small paths while we have a fantastic view over the sea. Later on, we bike around Lake Vraner, the natural fresh water reservoir of Cres. Then we’ll reach the small artist’s town of Osor where we meet the ship for lunch. After a long swim stop, we can decide either to join an additional bike tour (13 miles/21 km) to Lošinj or to spend the afternoon lingering on board during the sail to Mali Lošinj. We stay overnight in Mali Lošinj with an opportunity to visit the music bar that became famous among island hoppers.
Day 3: Islands of Lošinj and Molat (14 + 7 miles/22 +11 km; 650 + 490 ft/200 + 150 m altitude difference)
A short bike tour in the morning leads us along the coast of the island of Lošinj from one bay to the next. Our destination is the beautiful harbor of Veli Lošinj with its numerous fishing boats and dominated by the huge church of St. Anthony. After a coffee break, we cycle on a single trail back to the ship where we have lunch. In the afternoon, we crossover to the small island of Molat, where we have the opportunity to go for a short ride across the island on an asphalted road. Overnight stay on Molat.
Day 4: Island of Dugi Otok (42 miles/67 km; 3,280 ft/1,000 m altitude difference)
While we have breakfast, the ship leaves the harbor and takes us past many small islands to the "spice island" of Dugi Otok. Our bike tour starts in the bay of Bozava, which is surrounded by woods of pine, agave and tamarisk trees, and we ride on a road nearly free of traffic. First we have the opportunity to cycle to the Lighthouse in the north and back. Along the way we stop for lunch in a picturesque harbor. Afterwards, we bike to Sali on a quiet road with terrific views of the sea and surrounding islands. In the afternoon you shouldn’t miss to try the magnificent ice cream in the harbor of Sali.
Day 5: Island of Pag (23 miles/37 km; 1,640 ft/500 m altitude difference)
In the morning, we have a longer cruise to the island of Pag which is well-known for its cheese. In the afternoon we bike in between the ancient stone walls, built by the inhabitants for protection from the wind, to Novalija for lunch. After lunch we bike on the narrowing peninsula till we reach the sea, where the ship is waiting to take us to Rab. The island of Rab is one of the sunniest places in Europe. The fortified town of Rab, with its four famous bell towers, was built in the middle ages on a wedge-shaped headland. After dinner, we can explore the narrow alleys with numerous cozy cafes.
Day 6: Island of Rab (20 miles/32 km; 1,150 ft/350 m altitude difference)
Rab is a relatively small island. Nevertheless, in contrast to the other islands of the Kvarner Bay, it is the island that offers the most beautiful single trails and the best view points. Today, the cycle tour starts along the water front guiding us to a single trail through the nature protected evergreen oak forest, the Dundo Forest. Back in Rab, lunch is served aboard the ship and after a two hours crossing we reach the island capital Krk, where we can join a guided sightseeing tour through the worth seeing Old Town. Overnight stay in Krk.
Day 7: Island of Krk (34 miles/55 km; 2,950 ft/900 m altitude difference)
On gravel roads, we bike over the ridge of the island, which is covered by fragrant macchia, to a valley of vineyards, and then onwards to the small museum town of Vrbnik in the northeast. The town built on a 165 ft. high cliff and surrounded by vineyards, is the home of the famous white wine, Zlahtina. Another peculiarity that Vrbnik has to offer is the second narrowest alley in the world. The road then leads us across the island through old villages and rich vegetation to Omišalj. On our way, we have a chance to swim in the bay of Soline. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cozy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
Day 8: Disembarkation
The guests are asked to check out after breakfast, around 9 a.m. Individual trip home or prolongation of your holidays in Croatia.

Ships in the Kvarner Bay
Most of our ships are traditional motor powered sailing yachts. They are not luxury steamers but rather boats with charm and style. Their owners who frequently also captain the boats may have completed some additional modifications to their ships over the winter. That is why the descriptions of the boats may no longer be completely accurate.
If for whatever reason one of the ships we chartered would be cancelled due to unexpected circumstances, the tour operator will arrange a worthy replacement and will inform the participants about this change. You will find the name of your ship on your booking confirmation.
Some of our boats are equipped with sails. They are an impressive adornment recalling old tradition. Sailing is a unique experience for many guests. If weather conditions are good the captains may hoist the sails once a week. However sailing is slow and in order to make quick progress the captain will usually rely on the engine.
Linda ship (all cabins with shower/toilet)
(Mar 31; Apr 7, 14, 21, 28; May 5, 12, 19; Sep 29; Oct 13 and 20, 2013)
Captain Damir’s Linda is a spacious wooden motor yacht. She was built in 1955 and renovated in 2004/2005 to meet the requirements of island-hopping. 102 feet (31 m) long and 19.5 feet (6 m) wide the Linda is among the bigger ships in our Croatian fleet. The spacious saloon can accommodate 32 guests, and the middle sundeck is constructed in a way that meals can also be served outside. The upper deck measures 131 square feet (40 square meters) and is big enough for sunbathing. Three cozy cabins below deck are equipped with separate beds and two portholes each. Another one has a double bed with an additional bunk bed above the large bed, so that they can also be booked by three persons. On deck there are ten double cabins. Six of those have a double bed and four double cabins are equipped with separate beds. Captain Damir and his crew look forward to welcome our guests on board of their Linda. All cabins have air condition.
Adonis (all cabins with shower/toilet)
(May 26; Jun 2, 16, 23, 30; Sep 22, 2013)
The Adonis is a 79 feet (24 m) long and 20 feet (6 m) wide two-masted yacht that was built in 1975. Captain Tihomir rebuilt the ship for cruising in 2002/2003, and each of the 10 cabins was furnished with a shower and a toilet. There are 8 cabins on deck, each of which has a door that opens to the outside. Captain Tihomirs' crew offers excellent service and cuisine with delicious typical Croatian food. If you'd like to be shown the most beautiful bays for swimming, Tihomir is a proven specialist, because he knows waters of the Kvarner Bay like the back of his hand. The cosy saloon invites you to spend some time with new friends. On the covered rear deck of the ship is an inviting table situated where you can enjoy your meals. 280 square feet (85 square meters) of sundeck offers enough room for enjoying the sun while under way.

We have rated the physical demands of this bicycling tour with level 2 – 3 because the islands of the Kvarner Bay are relatively mountainous. This tour is thus one of the more demanding in our program. The bike routes require a basic level of fitness which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The daily routes of 12 to 27 mi. cover hilly or mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. The routes can reach an altitude of 650 to 1,300 ft. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs where pushing your bike is of course permitted. The roads are mostly asphalted and usually there is little traffic.
The tour guides will inform you about the course of the tour in due time. You can always choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead. You can also decide each day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually using the maps provided or join one of the tour guides.
We generally believe that only children with a lot of cycling experience and in a good physical condition aged 15 years and older are able to master the bike tours with their own. Furthermore, we offer bicycle rental only for people of 5 ft height or more. For smaller children, bicycle seats are limited available (reservation required).
This tour is rated Moderate and is for cyclists in average physical condition.

A rich, cultural history and diverse, majestic landscape describes the country of Croatia. Calling their country “Our Beautiful Homeland”, the Croats offer a warm welcome to visitors who want to experience the wonders of Croatia. Flat plains along the Hungarian border, low mountains and highlands near the Adriatic coastline and over 1,000 islands explain why Croatia is one of few nations to have three distinct climate zones.
Diversity continues in the Croatian culture with four cultural circles thriving together: Western, Eastern and Central Europe, and Mediterranean. Each culture retains its unique customs, including lace-making in Lepoglava, bell ringers in the Kasta region and Ojkanje singing in the Dalmatia region. Cuisine varies in the coastal region that favors seafood specialties, olive oil and prosciutto compared to the continental region that favors meat products, freshwater fish and vegetables. Other highlights include Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace in Split, a Roman amphitheatre in Pula and the city of Dubrovnik, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic."

For the period in which the services that have not been rendered according to contract, you can request a reduction in travel price after your return. The pre-condition for this is the immediate notification of our deficiencies or those of our tour guides, so that we have the opportunity to find a remedy. Tour guides are not authorized to recognize claims. Independent of a reduction in travel price, you can demand compensation due to non-compliance with the travel contract, unless we are not responsible for the defect.

Services
The foundation upon which the trip is organized is the description of the services, which is available in the brochure, in official pamphlets and on our website, and confirmed in your travel contract. Our liability for damages other than personal injury is limited to three times the cost of the trip, provided the damages are neither intentional nor due to gross negligence. This limitation is still in effect if we are responsible for the damage due to the fault of a service provider. If we are solely procurers of foreign services, we are liable only for proper procurement, not for the services. We are liable for damage or loss of luggage up to the amount of 250 € only if the damage was caused by us and was indicated to us immediately. Upon delivery of luggage at the accommodation facilities, the liability is transferred according to § 701 BGB to the officer of the accommodations. Participation
A vacation that involves exercise and physical activity requires greater commitment than a conventional package tour. It is your duty to make certain that you are up to the physical challenges of such a trip. The pre-condition for a bike-tour is that you are able to handle a bicycle in street traffic and on unpaved paths under any weather conditions. If you rent a bike, it is your responsibility to check the condition of the bike, particularly the brakes. You bear sole responsibility for adhering to all legal regulations at home and abroad, particularly regulations about travel documents and cross-border trade. When traveling across the exterior borders of the EU, your luggage must remain unlocked, to facilitate passage through customs. If your baggage is searched, you will be notified about it upon arrival at the destination. If problems with the procurement of the services occur, you are required to help within the scope of legal regulations, in order to avoid potential damages or keep them at a minimum and report any complaints to us immediately.
Duty of Care
During the duration of the trip, you are liable for damage to or loss of bicycles and any equipment entrusted to you. For guided tours, this is only valid if you have separated yourself from the group, have disobeyed instructions from the tour guides, or caused the damage or loss intentionally, through negligence or gross negligence.
