This trip is a mountain bike variant of our classical "Southern Route." No off road route or island is left untouched by the tour. Discover, by traversing mostly deserted pathways, the sparsely populated region of Dalmatia.
The tour by bike and boat, which takes us to Brac Island with its impressive stone reliefs, to the green Mjiet and Korcula islands, as well as to the lavender island of Hvar, gives us an opportunity to get to know the rich variety of this region in an active way. You may fall in love with the fully restored wooden yacht and with the comfort and excellent catering it provides during your one-week stay in one of the cozy cabins.
This tour is often operated on the same boat as our classical "Southern Route" and one tour guide attends the mountain bikers and the other one takes care of the trekking bike group.

Day 1: Trogir – Split
Individual arrival by car to Trogir or by plane to Split airport, which is about 3 mi. away from the harbor of Trogir. After check in on the motor yacht, the first short cruise starts at 2 p.m. from Trogir to Split. There we can go on a walk through the old town of Split, which is built adjoining the famous palace of the Roman Caesar Diocletian and is a world heritage site.
Day 2: Cetina Canyon (30 miles/48 km; 2,950 ft/900 m altitude difference)
After breakfast, we bike into the valley of the Cetina River, which has buried itself deep into the cliff faces. Afterwards, we return to Omiš, with its pirate castles, by way of small side roads through a varied landscape. There is also the option of taking part in a 4 hour rafting tour on the Cetina River. In the afternoon, we cross over to Brac Island with a swim break. Brac is very famous for its white marble, which can be seen here and has been used for the White House in Washington and in the Reichstag in Berlin.
Day 3: Brac Island (26 miles/42 km; 3,600 ft/1,100 altitude difference)
Early in the morning, after having a coffee on board, we cycle with our breakfast package from Puscica to the highest mountain around the Adriatic Sea. First, we will cycle on an asphalted road along mulberry, kiwi, and fig trees, olive groves and wine gardens. Afterwards, we turn into a gravel road, which we follow up to 2,260 ft. to the peak. Up there, a photo stop is a must. The following descent to Bol is challenging because of the gravel road, however a fabulous panorama view to the neighbour island Hvar reward us. The road leads to the Golden Horn where we have the possibility to take a swim stop. In the afternoon we cruise over to the Island Korcula and and its capital Korčula town where we can stroll through the old town with its fishbone-like alleys.
Day 4: Island of Korcula (36 miles/58 km; 2,952 ft/900 m altitude difference)
Today’s physically demanding bike tour takes us across the Island of Korcula. The peaceful and secluded gardens with its large cypresses dominate the appearance of the perhaps most beautiful Dalmatian island. We are cycling along unique asphalted and unpaved scenic routes to the south-west side of the island until we reach Brno. There we enjoy our picnic lunch break and later on we continue cycling to Vela Luka.
Day 5: Island of Vis and Hvar (21 miles/35 km; 2,952 ft/900 m altitude difference)
Vis is the island that is located farthest from the mainland. 2.300 years ago there was already a Greek colony called Issa on the island. Due to its strategic location it was the military zone until 1995 and closed for foreign tourists. Today we have the opportunity to explore the lovely island by bicycle. Lunch is taken at a local wine farm. Afterwards the boat cruises to Hvar where we visit the magnificent Renaissance Square and enjoy the view from the Spanish Fortress which is situated high above the city.
Day 6: Island of Hvar (17-21 miles/28-35 km; 2,460 + 1,640 ft/750 + 500 m altitude difference)
Gravel roads and uphills are part of our bicycle tour for today. Afterwards a challenging descent down takes us down to Stari Grad. After lunch we have the choice of taking a cozy short bike tour to the picturesque ports of Jelsa and Vrboska where we can enjoy a long ice cream break. Another choice is to explore remote villages in the interior of the island by cycling on gravel roads. Afterwards we reach Stari Grad which became a Mecca for artists and art lovers during the last years.
Day 7: Šolta Island (12 miles/20 km; 1,150 ft/350 m altitude difference)
After crossing to Stomorska on the island of Šolta, we commence our last cycle tour. Walled fields, numerous olive groves, locust bean and fig trees line the roads. The herb smells of lavender and rosemary will accompany us along our tour on this island. In Maslinica we load the bikes onto the ship and enjoy our last crossing back to Trogir where, if time permits, we can take a tour of the old town which is a World Heritage site. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
Day 8: Disembarkment
After breakfast disembarkation until 9 am and individual trip home or extended stay in Croatia.
Changes
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions, and where required by organizational necessities.

Most of our ships are traditional motor powered sailing yachts. They are not luxury steamers, but rather boats with a lot of charm and style. Their owners, who frequently also captain the boats at the same time, may have completed some additional modifications to their ships over the winter. That is why the descriptions of the boats may no longer be completely accurate.
If for whatever reason one of the ships we chartered would be cancelled due to unexpected circumstances, the tour operator will arrange a worthy replacement and will duly informthe participants about this change. You will find the name of your ship on your booking confirmation.
Some of our boats are equipped with sails. They are an impressive adornment recalling old tradition. Sailing is a unique experience for many guests. If weather conditions are good the captains may hoist the sails once a week. However, sailing is slow and in order to make quick progress the captain will usually rely on the engine.
Kapetan Jure ship (shower/toilet in each cabin)
(Mar 30; Apr 6, 20; May 4, 18; Jun 1, 15; Aug 24; Sep 7, 21; Oct 5, 19)
With more than 100 tours in the last six years, the Kapetan Jure has written Islandhopping history. Captain Anton is a legend in Islandhopping circles. Contagiously cheerful and always ready for a chat, he has become especially dear to many of our guests. Anton comes from an old seafaring family from Krilo, south of Split. His father was already captain of a yacht and it is Anton‘s wish that his son will follow in his footsteps too.
Anton's love to the sea and seafaring is reflected in many details on the ship. The spacious saloon is decorated with shells, amphorae and displays of miniature nautical knots and a mermaid at the bow protects the ship and the passengers. The crew of Anton‘s sparkling clean ship is very experienced, always friendly and helpful and makes it easy to feel right at home on this boat.
Premium ship Romantica (all cabins with shower/toilet)
(Apr 27; May 11; Aug 31; Oct 12)
The Romantica of Captain Jure was launched in May 2007. The ship is 105 ft. long and 25 ft. wide, and it possesses a solid structural steelwork, which, as the name says, connects romance with modern trend and functionally. To the elegant appearance of his ship Captain Jure pays a lot of attention: 17 comfortably equipped cabins with a size of 30-32 sq ft. also offer sufficient area to larger groups to accommodation. The generous cabins feature elevated equipment. The far sundeck offers couch mats for sunbathing and relaxing. A characteristic of the ship is a platform at the stern of the boat, from which you can take a bath in the sea in a very comfortable way.
Cabins
The cabins are equipped simply and functionally and have private baths with shower and toilet on all of our boats. There is enough space for sleeping and storing your luggage.
Due to the shape of the ship‘s hull the size of the cabins may vary. Price differentiations are only made with respect to "above deck" and "below deck" cabins. Cabin allotments are the responsibility of the tour operator and cannot be influenced by guests or tour guides. If you are sensitive to noise (especially in unfamiliar surroundings), we recommend the use of noise-reducing products. Insulation is not comparable to houses.
Electricity and water on board
Electricity and water are of course provided on board but not in unlimited amounts.
The water tanks are filled according to the number of people on board. There is enough water available for washing and showers even if the tanks cannot be refilled for several days. However, we presuppose that all passengers use this valuable resource sparingly. The ships also use a central heater for the showers. This also means that there is only enough warm water if people use the showers only for as long as it is really necessary (for example: turn off the water while soaping up).
The boat uses a 220 V generator which is not run constantly - amongst other reasons in order to keep the peace at night.
The power supply on board is accessible with Euro-wall-sockets (as customary in Germany). Guests from UK and other countries with different socket systems are kindly requested to bring their own appropriate adaptors.
Sleeping on deck
Many guests feel that spending a night outside in the fresh air is a unique experience. There is enough space on the deck for that purpose. However you should bring your own sleeping bag and an insulated mat, as it is not permitted to take the mattresses and sheets out of the cabins.
Catering on board
Meals included in the price of the tour consist of full-board. The food served on board is typically Mediterranean and higher nutritional demands of bikers are taken into account. There is an option for full-board or half-board.
Breakfast on board generally includes at least bread, butter, cheese, ham, coffee and tea. For lunch, the chef generally serves light fish dishes or vegetarian meals. For dinner, there are usually fish or meat dishes.
If you wish to eat vegetarian food or have distinctly different eating habits, please inform us in time before your arrival. Please keep in mind that special food requirements cannot always be met in all details.
Beverages
The saloon on the ship is a restaurant, lounge, and bar all in one. Here you can always get cool drinks – with or without alcohol. Generally, the crew keeps track of your drinks in a list that is tallied up for payment at the end of the trip. Naturally the drinks on board are slightly more expensive than in the Supermarket around the corner but after all you are in a small "floating restaurant." Just as in every bar or restaurant it is not allowed to bring your own drinks on board. For bottled mineral water (without fizz), a flat rate of 20,00 euros per person/week is charged. Children under 18 pay 10,00 euros per person/week. This flat rate includes all water consumed on board and on bike tours. Soft drinks, alcoholic beverages or coffee can be always be purchased on board.
Local tax
At the end of the trip 20,00 euro are to be paid to the captain for the visitor's tax and local charges. For children under 18 years, you have to pay 10,00 euro for the visitor's tax and local charges.

We have rated the physical demands of this bicycling tour with level 2 – 3 because the region is relatively mountainous. This tour is thus one of the more demanding in our program.
The bike routes require a basic level of fitness which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The daily routes of 12 to 27 mi. cover hilly or mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. The routes can reach an altitude of 650 to 1300 meters. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs where pushing your bike is of course permitted. The roads are mostly asphalted and usually there is little traffic.
The tour guides will inform you about the course of the tour in due time. You can always choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead. You can also decide each day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually using the maps provided or join one of the tour guides.
We generally believe that only children with a lot of cycling experience and in a good physical condition aged 15 years and older are able to master the bike tours with their own. Furthermore we offer bicycle rental only for people of 5 ft height or more. For smaller children bicycle seats are limited available (reservation required).
This tour is rated Moderate and is for cyclists in good physical condition.

A rich, cultural history and diverse, majestic landscape describes the country of Croatia. Calling their country “Our Beautiful Homeland”, the Croats offer a warm welcome to visitors who want to experience the wonders of Croatia. Flat plains along the Hungarian border, low mountains and highlands near the Adriatic coastline and over 1,000 islands explain why Croatia is one of few nations to have three distinct climate zones.
Diversity continues in the Croatian culture with four cultural circles thriving together: Western, Eastern and Central Europe, and Mediterranean. Each culture retains its unique customs, including lace-making in Lepoglava, bell ringers in the Kasta region and Ojkanje singing in the Dalmatia region. Cuisine varies in the coastal region that favors seafood specialties, olive oil and prosciutto compared to the continental region that favors meat products, freshwater fish and vegetables. Other highlights include Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace in Split, a Roman amphitheatre in Pula and the city of Dubrovnik, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic."

During the duration of the trip, you are liable for damage to or loss of bicycles and any equipment entrusted to you. For guided tours, this is only valid if you have separated yourself from the group, have disobeyed instructions from the tour guides, or caused the damage or loss intentionally, through negligence or gross negligence.

Tour guides are not authorized to recognize claims. Independent of a reduction in travel price, you can demand compensation due to non-compliance with the travel contract, unless we are not responsible for the defect.
