The famous Côte d’Or is home to some of the best known wines in the world, but there’s also Cotes Challonaise, Macon, and more. The landscape is slightly hilly and very picturesque, dotted with medieval villages and historic towns. Some say that Burgundy is a litle bit like Provence, but without the crowd.
You will start your tour in Dijon, capital of the Ducs of Burgundy (also famous for mustard). Then you will contine through Beaune, called the wine capital of Burgundy, and venture out from there. Burgundy cuisine is justly famous – snails, Charolais beef, Bress chicken and wonderful cheeses.

Day 1: Arrival in Dijon
Arrival of the participants by their own means at the hotel in the afternoon. Meeting with a representative of the agency who will hand out the road book, maps and tourist information. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Dijon – Nuits Saint Georges/Vougeot (16 miles/25km)
You will be following the Route de Grands Crus from Dijon to Nuits-Saint-Georges, you will go through the famous winemaking villages of Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey Saint Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Vougeot (with Chateau Clos de Vougeot). Overnight stay in Nuits Saint Georges or Vougeot.
Day 3: Nuits Saint Georges/Vougeot – Beaune (13 miles/21 km)
You will leave Nuits Saint Georges heading for Beaune, known as the Burgundy Wine Capital. Depending on your arrival time, you will likely have time to wander the medieval streets of Beaune, its ramparts, the Collegial church of Notre Dame with its 15th century tapestries, and have a drink in one of the many cafes on the main square!
Overnight stay in Beaune.
Day 4: Beaune – near Chagny (25 miles/40km)
You will cross the Côte de Beaune going through the best known villages such as Pommard, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. You can stop by the mythical patch of Montrachet, considered as one of the greatest white wines of the world, with just cause!
Overnight stay near Chagny.
Day 5: near Chagny – Givry (19 miles/30km)
You will leave Chagny following the Voie Verte alongside the canal du Centre to Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune where you will join the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise. You will have the possibility to immerse into the Middle Ages with a visit of the Château de Germolles.
Overnight stay in Givry.
Day 6: Givry – Cluny (28 miles/45km)
From Givry to Cluny you will be following the “Green Lane” a cycling track designed for leisure activities. You will enjoy varied landscape of forests and traditional countryside houses, know as “cabottes” (small stone houses), wash houses, and fountains. With a rich heritage and an artistic dimension, Saint Gengoux Le National is known as a medieval town, and will welcome you in a wonderful way. On your way to Cluny, you will go through Cormatin, a village well-known for its château. From here, the landscape will slightly change and become hilly. You then arrive in Cluny, the spiritual centre of Europe in the Middle Ages that had a considerable influence on religion, intellect, and art.

Day 7: Cluny – Mâcon (14 miles/23km)
You will follow an easy and flat Green Lane winding for about 14 miles (23 km) through the Val Lamartinien. Crossing the landscape dominated by rocks Solutre Vergisson, Mont Pouilly-classified one of the most beautifull natural sites in France. You will cross the area, where the poet Lamartine has left many memories.
Overnight stay in Macon.
Day 8: Departure from Macon
Daily: Mar 1- Oct 31, 2012 and 2013

Extra day in Dijon and Cooking Classes with the chef Alex. “The most congenial, friendly and enjoyable cooking classes in Burgundy in English for beginners and all others. Each class is custom designed to suit your desires and the menu is chosen while we take a tour of the market. The idea is to share, discover and experience what French people really eat at home as well as learning more about French culture and life style. Alex is the most well-known American in Burgundy and will introduce you to his circle of friends & chefs. “The day of French gastronomy discovery will start at 9.00am and finish at about 4.00pm.
