Burgundy is a fabulous region for a cycling tour: quiet roads, nice accommodation, many vineyards and domains to sample wine and great gastronomy.
On this cycle holiday you will bike through some lovely typical French towns such as Pouilly Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Givry, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard and many more. You will also benefit from the peace of the cycle track, the “Green Way” and you will appreciate the natural beauty of this area.

Day 1: Arrival in Macon
Arrival in Macon, a lovely town alongside the Saone River. At your hotel you will have a welcome meeting and explanation of the cycling tour.
Overnight in Macon.
Day 2: Macon – Cluny (15 miles/25 km)
After breakfast, you will join the “Voie Verte”, a special cycle way in Burgundy that runs from Mâcon to Beaune. Today you will discover the Solutré and Vergisson Rocks, which are located in the Mâcon Vineyards of the Mâcon-Villages, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé. Your route will then continue onwards through Berzé le Chatel and onto Cluny.

Day 3: Cluny
Today you have the day to explore the great town of Cluny and its many historical sites. We suggest you visit the Abbey of Cluny (it has a guided visit every hour), which was the most important Abby in Europe from 910 to 1340.

Day 4: Cluny - Cormatin (9 miles/15 km)
After breakfast, you will cycle on the “Green Way” in order to reach and discover Cormatin and its marvellous castle from Louis XIII, a period which is unique in France.

Day 5: Cormatin – Givry (17 miles/28 km)
After breakfast, you will join the “Green Way” again. You will appreciate the lovely roman architecture in Malay, Saint Gengoux le National, Buxy and Givry.
Overnight in Givry.
Day 6: Givry – Rully (12 miles/20 km)
After breakfast, you will return on the way through the vineyards in order to reach Mercurey, and then Rully, with its lovely castle.
Overnight in Rully.
Day 7: Rully - Beaune (19 miles/30 km)
The cycling continues through the vineyards by Bouzeron with the famous Aligoté Wine, Chagny, Remigny, Santenay, then the great Crus, Montrachet and Batard Montrachet, and Volnay, Pommard in order to arrive in Beaune. Once you are in Beaune you must visit the famous Hotel-Dieu and the medieval city.

Departure after breakfast.

They are equipped with tire repair kit (with extra inner tube) pump, bell, lock, rear carrier (for standard panniers), removable handlebar bag, with map case, and some other items depending on what tour you are on. These bicycles are very good for their purpose, and are maintained by professional mechanics.
