Day 1: Bodrum (embarkation)
Individual arrival by plane and subsequent transfer to Bodrum/Turkey. After checking in on the gulet, we have the opportunity to explore the interesting old part of town and the port. Dinner on board. The last participants arrive at the ship late in the evening.
Day 2: Island of Kos (16 miles/25 km; 790 ft/240 m altitude difference)
Crossing to Kos before lunch. There begins our first bike tour, which - always running close to the coast - takes us to a beach with a hot spring for a first swim in the Aegean. On the way back to the ship, we master our first steep uphill and our first downhill on a gravel road. We spend the evening in Kos, the lively capital of the island. On a tour through the town, we come with each step across traces of the island's great past. The Roman forum, the fortress of the Knights of St. John, and the mosques from the time when Kos was part of the Ottoman Empire stand shoulder to shoulder. We can end the evening relaxing in one of the town's numerous bars and cafes.
Day 3: Island of Kalymnos (25 miles/40 km; 2,600 ft/800 feet altitude difference)
On today's ride, we exclusively use tar sealed roads. From the port of Pothia ,we bicycle first to the west coast of the island. Here we have a wonderful view of the neighboring island of Telendos. Then follows a longer uphill ride into a valley which - for this barren island - is surprisingly green. We continue as far as the quiet fishing village of Vathi, where we can have a coffee break in a cozy tavern. Along a high panoramic route we return to Pothia. If we feel like going on for a bit, it is worthwhile to make the short detour to the Aghioi Pantes monastery, where we have a wonderful view across the harbor. In the afternoon, we go by boat to beautiful island of Lipsi.
Day 4: Island of Lipsi (9 miles/15 km; 660 ft/200 m altitude difference)
Lipsi, with its quiet beaches and 55 churches, has been largely spared from tourism, is a very worth-seeing island. After a short bike ride, a beautiful, peaceful beach invites us to enjoy a long swim break. Later on, you shouldn't miss a visit to the wonderful confectionery in the harbor. In the afternoon, we cross over to Patmos by boat, which can be seen from afar with its snow white upper town and its towering monastery.
Day 5: Island of Patmos (19 miles/30 km; 1,320 ft/400 m altitude difference)
On a panoramic bike ride, we visit the grotto, in which St. John during his banishment saw the apocalypse. The world famous St. John monastery of Hora, a village, which has a paradise-like peaceful atmosphere with its numerous white alleys and 33 churches and chapels, is the next stop on our tour. From there, we cycle along a wonderful beach inviting us for a bathing stop. Afterwards, we return to the port where the ship awaits us to cruise over to Leros.
Day 6: Island of Leros (20 miles/32 km; 2,130 ft/650 m altitude difference)
Leros is green and varied, continuously offering new vistas and surprising glimpses into small bays. The bike tour leads us on an unpaved road to a scenic view point and continues on to the sea-washed chapel of Aghios Isidoros, where many a couple has tied the knot for life. After a break for espresso at the idyllic port of Aghia Marina, the bike tour takes us to the fortress of the Knights of St. John. In the afternoon, we continue to Pothia, the main port of the island of Kalymnos, which used to be a center for sponge diving and which is nowadays considered a Mecca for climbers.
Day 7: Island of Kos (a: 17 miles/27 km; b: 23 miles/37 km; and a: 1,300 ft/400 m; b: 2,300 ft/700 m altitude difference)
In the morning, we go on a bike trip to the world-famous excavation site of the Asclepieion of Kos, where Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, was active. From there, we continue to an old Greek mountain village called Zia, where a number of cozy taverns invite us to linger. Afterwards, we bicycle on partly asphalted and partly gravel roads to Kos Town. After lunch. On the way to Bodrum, we enjoy the last cruise on board of our ship. Bodrum's vivacious old center invites us once again to go on another enjoyable walk through town. The last evening aboard takes place traditionally and includes the communal dinner and a last get-together in a cozy atmosphere with crew and tour guides.
Day 8: Disembarkation in Bodrum
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport or extension of your holiday in the Turkish or Greek Aegean sea.
Changes
We reserve the right to make changes in the route if unpredictable wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements should make this necessary.

Your tour price includes the use of an Island Hopping rental bike. We urgently discourage you from bringing your own bike because the transport from your hometown to Turkey by airplane is both costly and risky. The bikes often get damaged during transport and the transfer taxis are often unwilling to transport bike boxes.
On arrival, you receive a 24-speed Island Hopping Mountain Bike. These bicycles are especially made for us and the result of our long experience in cycling tourism. The bicycles are available with different frames for men and women. If there should not be enough Island Hopping mountain bikes in the respective frame heights on our ship, we will provide a different brand of mountain bikes. These bikes will be of the same or higher quality as our Island Hopping mountain bikes.

This region is relatively mountainous. This tour is thus one of the more demanding in our program. The bike routes require a basic level of fitness which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The daily routes of 12 to 27 mi. cover hilly or mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. The routes can reach an altitude of 650 to 1,400 ft. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs where pushing your bike is permitted. The roads are mostly asphalted and usually there is little traffic.
The tour guides will inform you about the course of the tour in due time. You can always choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead. You can also decide each day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually using the maps provided or join one of the tourguides.
We generally believe that only children with a lot of cycling experience and in a good physical condition aged 10 years and older are able to master the bike tours with their own. Furthermore, we offer bicycle rental only for people of 5 ft height or more. For smaller children, bicycle seats are limited available (reservation required).
This tour is rated Moderate and is for cyclists in good physical condition.

Straddling Asia and Europe, Turkey is a fascinating and a welcoming blend of East and West. Istanbul represents the appeal of Turkey – the melding of ancient history with 21st-century amenities and attractions. Many go to Turkey to see the ancient ruins – testaments to Turkey's diverse and storied history and the influence of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires. Religious iconography and art are plentiful in the country’s many stunning mosques, synagogues, and churches. Turkish architecture sets an exotic eastern tone with its many domes and vibrant mosaics, and its markets are full of colorful treasures waiting to be discovered.
Turkey's substantial coastlines along the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Black Seas give its beaches a Riviera-like ambiance. The crystal blue waters of Turkish beaches are reminiscent of neighboring Greece, but the port towns and seaside villages have a distinctly Turkish flavor.

Sitting at the meeting point of Europe, Asia, and Africa is the Greek peninsula. Bordered by the Aegean, Ionian and Mediterranean Seas, Greece has a uniquely rich history etched in every corner of the country. Archaeological remnants of the ancient Greek civilization include Delphi's Temple of Apollo, the Acropolis in Athens with its renowned Parthenon Temple and Olympia's Temple of Zeus, where the Olympic games were held every four years. Trips to these sites also provide an opportunity to visit Greece’s 200 state museums and 107 private museums. Most notable is the Archaeological Museum of Olympia and the new Acropolis Museum that houses over 4,000 finds from the Acropolis.
A trip to Greece is not complete without visiting one of its 6,000 islands, of which only 227 are inhabited. The Greek isles share an ideal climate with crystal clear waters, but feature highly diverse coastal areas ranging from sandy and rocky beaches to sheltered coves to coastal wetlands. The outstanding cuisine of Greece is always a highlight as well.
