Day 1: Arrival to Corfu town
Check in on the ship from 2 pm on. Dinner on board. Overnight stay in Corfu.
Day 2: Corfu Island – Sivota – Lefkas Island (17 miles/28 km)
In the morning we crossover to Sivota. There, our first cycle tour starts and leads us to Parga, the only center of tourism on the western coast of the Greek mainland. Parga is a pretty town with the medieval fort which towers over the old town. Here, the boat awaits us to take us to Nidri on Lekas Island. On our way, we pass the original swinging bridge which connects Lefkas with the Greek mainland.
Day 3: Islands of Lekas (14 miles/25 km)
Todays cycle route takes us from Nidri first to nearby waterfalls. If you are lucky they carry still enough water for a refreshing morning swim. Along quiet roads through the mountains past Sivros we cycle later to the harbour in Vasiliki. After a short sail we anchor at Porto Katsiki, one of the most famous beaches in Greece, for swimming. Then the ship brings us to Fiskardo on Cephalonia, where we spend the night. The harbour town on the Northern point of the island charms visitors with its colorful houses and numerous cafés and bars along the picturesque harbor promenade.
Day 4: Cephalonia Island (24 miles/39 km)
Today’s bike tour leads us from Fiskardo to Sami. We cycle along the high road of the western coast of the island, where we have many unforgettable views, like the panoramic view down to Myrtos beach. We continue on through the interior of the island and finally reach the eastern coast of Cephalonia with the harbor of Sami. On the way we may visit the stalactite and stalagmite caves of Melissani, which can only be viewed in row boats. In the late afternoon we cruise to Vathy on the island of Ithaca. Ithaca, the homeland of the mythical king Odysseus is a hilly island with a beautiful landscape.
Day 5: Islands of Ithaca and Meganisi (13 miles/21 km; 8 miles/13 km)
On today’s cycle route, we can enjoy the typical character of the Ionian Islands here away from the beaten tourist track: gnarled olive trees, crystal clear water and friendly islanders – time appears to stand still on Ithaca. From Frikes the Panagiota takes us to the small island of Meganisi. On the way we pass the private island of the influential ship-owner Aristoteles Onassis. Meganisi is a tiny island with lots of charm, which we explore in the afternoon in no time by bicycle.
Day 6: Mytikas – Lefkas – Paxos (30 miles/49 km)
In the morning, we crossover to Mytikas on the Greek mainland. From Mytikas we ride along the coast and further on panoramic roads, passing some mountain villages until we reach Lefkas town. In the afternoon we sail to Paxos island, whose unique natural harbor in Gaios creates a special island atmosphere. We can spend the evening in a cozy tavern in Gaios.
Day 7: Islands of Paxos and Corfu (14 miles/23 km)
Paxos, the smallest of the seven Ionian Islands is a grove of olive trees, which gives the island its wonderful silver green color. On today’s cycle trip, we circle the island. We can have our last swim in the Mediterranean on one of the many beaches. After lunch the boat brings us back to Corfu, where, after dinner on board, our tour ends leisurely with an evening in the romantic historical town centre.
Day 8: Corfu town (Disembarkation)
After breakfast, check-out, collective transfer to the airport and individual return home or holiday extension on the island of Corfu.
Changes
We reserve the right to make changes to the planned route due to changing wind and weather conditions, and where required by organizational necessities.
May 4*; Jun 15, 22; Sep 28*; Oct 5, 12, 2013
* Please note that the May 4 and Sep 28 tour departures include a special trip from Corfu to Athens (or reverse), which combines the Gulf of Corinth with the Ionian Islands. Highlights are the temple of Aphaia on Aegina Island, Isthmus of Corinth and the archaeological site of Delphi. A detailed itinerary of the trip in both directions is available upon request.

Boats in Greece
Our boats in Greece are wooden two-masted motor-powered sailing yachts. They are not luxury steamers, but motor-powered sailing yachts with their own charm. If, for whatever reason, one of the ships we chartered was to fall out of action, the tour operator will arrange a worthy replacement and will duly inform the participants about this change. You will find the name of your ship on your booking confirmation.
Please be aware that the captains may have completed some additional alterations to their ship over the winter, so that the following descriptions may no longer be completely accurate.
Some of our boats are equipped with sails. They are an impressive adornment recalling old tradition. Sailing is a unique experience for many guests. If weather conditions are good, the captains may hoist the sails once a week. However, sailing is slow and in order to make quick progress the captain will usually rely on the engine.
Panagiota boat
The Panagiota is a traditional motor-sailer, 98 ft. long, 23 ft. wide, built in 1990 and lovingly restored and modernized in 2001 to meet the requirements for cruising. 6 cabins in the lower deck and 4 on the upper deck are available for guests. All cabins are equipped with a French bed and a single bunk as well as a private shower/toilet. The lower cabins each have a porthole for passive ventilation and an active ventilation system.
The saloon is very spacious and perfect for meals and cozy get-togethers. In good weather conditions, the shaded afterdeck can be used for eating as well. There is also a sun deck with comfortable mats for the guests. Captain Gerasimos is proud of his cuisine: "The guests are treated to always new Greek specialties that keep the menu varied."
Cabins
6 cabins in the lower deck and 4 cabins on the upper deck are at the guests’ disposal. All cabins are air conditioned and most of them are equipped with a French bed, one single bed and private shower and toilet. The cabins are furnished in a comfortable yet practical manner and are equipped with one bunk bed on top of another, a small wardrobe, an air-conditioning unit and a porthole. They allow enough room to sleep in and to store the luggage in. Every cabin has its own shower/toilet. Due to the shape of the ship’s hull the cabins vary in size. Price differentiations are only made in respect to “on deck” and “below deck”. Cabin allotments are the responsibility of the tour operator and can not be influenced by guests or tour guides.
The beds will be made before you arrive. You should definitely bring your own towels for the beach (even though a small and large cabin towel will be issued to you). Please do not smoke in the cabins or the saloon of the ship.If you are sensitive to noise (especially in unfamiliar surroundings), we recommend the use of noise-reducing products, as wall insulation is not comparable to houses.
Air conditioning
Most of the ships have air conditioning in the saloon as well as in the cabins. Usually they will work while the generator is running (during taxi) or while connected to onshore power supply. Please be aware that your cabin door has to be closed in order to run the air-condition. If there is no power supply available during nights air conditioning will stay switched off.
Cabin service
There is a daily cabin service on board which takes place during the bicycle tours. It includes the cleaning of floor and bath as well as the bedding (personal belongings should be removed). The towels will be changed once in the middle of the week. In case you do not prefer cabin service or it has not been done please contact the travel guides. Should the group not be able to leave the ship due to environmental forces it may be that the cabin service does not apply.
Electricity and water on board
Electricity and water are of course provided on board but not in unlimited amounts. The water tanks are filled according to the number of people on board. There is enough water available for washing and showers even if the tanks cannot be refilled for several days. However, we presuppose that all passengers use this valuable resource sparingly. The ships also use a central heater for the showers. This also means that there is only enough warm water if people use the showers only for as long as it is really necessary (for example: turn off the water while soaping up).
The boat uses a 220 V generator which is not run constantly - amongst other reasons in order to keep the peace at night. The power supply on board is accessible with Euro-wall-sockets (as customary in Germany). Guests from UK and other countries with different socket systems are kindly requested to bring their own appropriate adaptors.
Use of restroom
The sewage system on board is very narrow and cannot cope with any debris. Please do not throw anything into the toilets, not even toilet paper. Each toilet, like most on the Greek main land, has a waste basket that is emptied daily.
Shoes on board
Please bring a pair of shoes with you that you wear only on board in order to avoid damage to the teak wood decks. Your street shoes can be left in a shoe cupboard or basket at the entrance of the ship.
Sleeping on deck
Many guests feel that spending a night outside in the fresh air is a unique experience. There is enough space on the deck for that purpose. However you should bring your own sleeping bag and an insulated mat as it is not permitted to take the mattresses and sheets out of the cabins.
Catering on board
Meals included in the price of the tour consist of full-board. The food served on board is typically Mediterranean and higher nutritional demands of bikers are taken into account. Breakfast on board generally includes at least bread, butter, cheese, ham, coffee and tea. For lunch the chef generally serves light fish dishes or vegetarian meals. For dinner there are usually fish or meat dishes.
Beverages
The saloon on the ship is a restaurant, lounge, and bar all in one. Here you can always get cool drinks – with or without alcohol. Generally, the crew keeps track of your drinks in a list that is tallied up for payment at the end of the trip. An exception is mineral water which is paid as a flat rate of 15 euros per person per week. This includes all drinking water consumed on board and during the bike tours. Naturally, the drinks on board are slightly more expensive than in the supermarket around the corner but after all you are in a small, "floating restaurant." Just as in every bar or restaurant it is not allowed to bring your own drinks on board.

Your tour price includes the use of an Island Hopping rental bike. We urgently discourage you from bringing your own bike because the transport from your hometown to Greece by airplane is both costly and risky. The bikes often get damaged during transport and the transfer taxis are often unwilling to transport bike boxes.
On arrival you receive a 21-gear aluminum Island Hopping touring bicycle. These bicycles are especially made for us and the result of our long experience in cycling tourism. The men’s bicycles have a frame size of 56 cm or 60 cm, and the frames of the women’s bicycles are 46 cm and 52 cm.
In order to supply you with the bicycle that fits you, we need to know how tall you are. Should you not have given us this information along with your booking, we ask you to pass it on to our office team.
All the bicycles have a fender, a kickstand, a rack, and a quick release seat. We provide a waterproof saddlebag from Ortlieb for everybody.
Alternative: electronic bike of the Swiss brand FLYER
Cycle hassle-free and climb mountains without difficulty, and enjoy nature and beautiful landscapes. Electronic Bikes will make it possible. They are the declaration if independence for everybody who enjoys activity!
The i:SY-Flyer ECO, a relatively light model of 23 kg, is a compact bike with a special low frame geometry for easy mounting and 20-inch wheels. The handlebar “Speedlifter Twist” is turnable, making the bike space-efficient for storage. This E-Bike model is equipped with an 8-gear-Shimano hub gearshift (Nexus) as well as Shimano V-brakes. A 10-amp battery along with an 8-amp back-up allow for unlimited riding pleasure. Our E-bikes are available for all persons with a body height of 1,50 m - 1,90 m. For all participants bigger than 1,90m we do not have any E-Bikes available. On the Panagiota 3 E-Bikes are available and can be rented for a weekly fee of 70 euros. Due to the limited number of E-Bikes a reservation in good time is required. Please contact our office team at: info@islandhopping.com.
Should you not want to be without your own saddle (without the post) or your own click pedal, please bring them with you and let your tour guide attach them to your rental bike.
We kindly ask you in your own interest to take good care of the hired bike during the trip and to ensure that the bike is always safely places and protected from accidents (e.g. falling into saltwater). Please keep in mind that you will have to pay compensation for any damage your cause, and that this is not covered by the rental fee.

The region is relatively mountainous. This tour is thus one of the more demanding in our program. The bike routes require a basic level of fitness which you should have acquired by occasional or daily cycling. The daily routes of 12 to 28 mi. cover hilly or mountainous terrain and can be completed without time constraints. The routes can reach an altitude of 650 to 1,640 ft. You will also come across some longer and rather steep climbs where pushing your bike is of course permitted. The roads are mostly asphalted and usually there is little traffic.
The tour guides will inform you about the course of the tour in due time. You can always choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead. You can also decide each day for yourself whether you would like to cycle individually using the maps provided or join one of the tour guides.
We generally believe that only children with a lot of cycling experience and in a good physical condition aged 10 years and older are able to master the bike tours with their own. Furthermore we offer bicycle rental only for people of 5 ft height or more. For smaller children bicycle seats are limited available (reservation required).
This tour is rated Leisure and is for cyclists in average physical condition.

Nearest airport: Corfu, Greece
You will find your ship on embarkation day in Corfu town. Usually the embarkation point is located next to the Old Fortress. Check-in time on board begins at 2 pm. The ship’s exact location in the port is not decided until the actual embarkation day.

Sitting at the meeting point of Europe, Asia, and Africa is the Greek peninsula. Bordered by the Aegean, Ionian and Mediterranean Seas, Greece has a uniquely rich history etched in every corner of the country. Archaeological remnants of the ancient Greek civilization include Delphi's Temple of Apollo, the Acropolis in Athens with its renowned Parthenon Temple and Olympia's Temple of Zeus, where the Olympic games were held every four years. Trips to these sites also provide an opportunity to visit Greece’s 200 state museums and 107 private museums. Most notable is the Archaeological Museum of Olympia and the new Acropolis Museum that houses over 4,000 finds from the Acropolis.
A trip to Greece is not complete without visiting one of its 6,000 islands, of which only 227 are inhabited. The Greek isles share an ideal climate with crystal clear waters, but feature highly diverse coastal areas ranging from sandy and rocky beaches to sheltered coves to coastal wetlands. The outstanding cuisine of Greece is always a highlight as well.

A vacation that involves exercise and physical activity requires greater commitment than a conventional package tour. It is your duty to make certain that you are up to the physical challenges of such a trip. The pre-condition for a bike-tour is that you are able to handle a bicycle in street traffic and on unpaved paths under any weather conditions. If you rent a bike, it is your responsibility to check the condition of the bike, particularly the brakes. You bear sole responsibility for adhering to all legal regulations at home and abroad, particularly regulations about travel documents and cross-border trade. When traveling across the exterior borders of the EU, your luggage must remain unlocked, to facilitate passage through customs. If your baggage is searched, you will be notified about it upon arrival at the destination. If problems with the procurement of the services occur, you are required to help within the scope of legal regulations, in order to avoid potential damages or keep them at a minimum and report any complaints to us immediately.
Duty of Care
During the duration of the trip, you are liable for damage to or loss of bicycles and any equipment entrusted to you. For guided tours, this is only valid if you have separated yourself from the group, have disobeyed instructions from the tour guides, or caused the damage or loss intentionally, through negligence or gross negligence.
Warranty
You can demand redress if the trip services are not rendered according to the contract. This can be solved by us providing compensation of equal or greater value. In the case of disproportionate effort, corrective action can be denied. For the period in which the services that have not been rendered according to contract, you can request a reduction in travel price after your return. The pre-condition for this is the immediate notification of our deficiencies or those of our tour guides, so that we have the opportunity to find a remedy. Tour guides are not authorized to recognize claims. Independent of a reduction in travel price, you can demand compensation due to non-compliance with the travel contract, unless we are not responsible for the defect.
