Holland's De Hoge Veluwe National Park

Tour Description: Guided

(View Self-guided)

In the Mid-East part of the country, near Apeldoorn, is the country's largest national park, the Hoge Veluwe. The foundation of the area was formed some 200,000 years ago. Today the park covers 5,500 hectares and is a unique blend of forests and woods, shifting sands and heath moors that provide a sense of isolation found nowhere else on the Dutch mainland.

This individual tour leads you from the central Holland lowlands to the wooded National park. The Hoge Veluwe harbors a recently renovated Visitors Centre, a beautiful architectured Hunting Manor, named St Hubertus, and the Kröller-Müller Museum. The museum has 278 works by Van Gogh, as well as smaller collections of Picasso and Mondriaan.

The park is closed to motorized traffic and is traversed by many bicycle paths.
