Serene Tuscany, Umbria and Latium

Florence to Rome

Tour Description: Guided

(View Self-guided)

Traveling across the Italian countryside by bike is a great way to experience the country's culture and history. This tour from Florence to Rome shows the country from another side: calm, mystical and unexplored. During the 180 miles (290 km) between Florence and Rome, you will see such cities as Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto and Narni, all of which display an incredible wealth of art, treasures and history. Most of the cities have hardly been changed, allowing the landscape to appear harmonious and inviting.

Following small side roads, the tour heads through the Apennines Valley and softly curved hills of the Trasimeno Lake. Raging torrents, fascinating ravines and roaming flocks of sheep define this part of Italy. At the end the Eternal City of Rome awaits you. There you should put aside your bike and enjoy its energy by having a cappuccino or a glass of red wine, reminiscing over the past few days of cycling through the small and secluded villages in Umbria.
