Cycling in the land of superlatives: the longest fjords, the largest glaciers and the highest prices. You won’t cease to be amazed. The 21,465 km long, extremely indented coastline with steep mountains up to 2,000 m high which jut out and a large number of staggering mountain and valley routes make it a challenge to plan and carry out a tour through Norway. The result is spectacular indeed and requires less sportive efforts than one maybe expects. Let’s go!
The low population density and small number of hotels make our choice an easy one. Often there is no alternative to the hotels booked by us. On the contrary, sometimes we had to organise the whole route according to the hotels available. The standard of the hotels is good; in one case (Os) even excellent. We have always pre-booked meals in places where there is nowhere else to eat worth mentioning apart from the hotel restaurant. In Stavanger, Voss and Bergen we have not booked dinner.

Day 1: Journey to Norway (with ferry package)
Journey to Norway via the Danish Hirtshals. We take the ferry across the North Sea in the early evening.
Overnight in Kristiansand.
Day 2: Hellvik- Stavanger/Individual Journey to Stavanger (34 miles/54km)
Those who arrive by ferry take the bus or train to Hellvik. Warm-up tour across lovely coastal scenery to Stavanger. Participants without ferry package will meet the rest of the group in the evening in Stavanger.
Overnight in Stavanger.
Day 3: Stavanger - Isle of Ombo – Haugesund (Level 1: 33 miles/52km or Level 2: 72 miles/115km)
After a short Fjord crossing by ship you will enjoy a flat tour through the impressive Tysdal. Behind Ardal a steep uphill awaits us. Later the route regains its charming character, and after a tour over the marvellous island of Ombo (2 ferry cruises) we arrive in the small harbour city Haugesund.
Overnight in Haugesund.
Day 4: Haugesund – Leirvik/Stord (46 miles/75km)
We continue northwards via several islands. Sveio and Bømlo are quite remote and there is not much traffic. In the evening, we cross several high sea bridges leading to the island of Stord, where we finish in Leirvik.
Overnight in Leirvik.
Day 5: Leirvik - Os (Level 1: 48 miles/77km or Level 2: 66 miles/106km)
Fjord Norway at its best! We will start our great Hardangerfjord tour with a ferry trip to Tysnesøy. This island as well as the Kvinnherad peninsula offer a multitude of unique scenic impressions. The impressive Folgefonn glacier can be seen on the right hand side. Our destination is Osøyro, where we arrive after another boat trip. Level 1 shortens the tour in the afternoon.
Overnight in Os.
Day 6: Os – Voss (Level 1: 33 miles/76km or Level 2: 60 miles/96km)
This morning our route follows the narrow and very quiet road along Samnangerfjord giving us sensational views of the water and the mountains in the background. By train we reach Dale from where we take the bikes again. A 5 km-long path with lots of bends and a very steep gradient winds its way up to a reservoir. The reward is a beautiful route to Lake Hamlagrø and finally the long downhill ride to Lake Vang. Following the shoreline we will easily make it to Voss.
Overnight in Voss.
Day 7: Voss – Myrdal – Lærdal: Rallar route & the "Snow Road" (Level 1: 39 miles/62km or Level 2: 46 miles/74km)
The Bergen railway is primarily famous for the almost impassable part through Hardangervidda. We get off the train in Myrdal, and then roll down to sea-level along the so called Rallar route and through the impressive Flåm valley. In Flåm an extraordinary highlight awaits us: the "Snow Road", which is only used by few tourists. The way leads into altitudes which are still covered in snow in July. We will pedal away up to the pass altitude of 1.306 m. Of course, there is the possiility for Level 1 participants to take a ride in our vehicle. After an exhilarating downhill, we arrive in Lærdal.
Overnight in Lærdal.
Day 8: Lærdal - Hafslo (Level 1: 49 miles/79km or Level 2: 73 miles/117km)
We reach Jotunheimen, the highest part of the Norwegian mountains, and again you can enjoy several incredible scenic views. Finally, we come to a Stavkirke (stave church) which are famous in Fjordnorway. Level 2 takes an uphill onto the narrow Hurrungane road to Turtagrø, Level 1 stays at fjord's level and cycles around the Lusterfjord to Hafslo.
Overnight in Hafslo.
Day 9: Hafslo – Bergen (11 miles/17km)
The Sogne Fjord appears in every list of the most beautiful places in Norway. It is the longest and deepest fjord in the country and we cross it completely with the express ferry to Bergen. Enjoy Norway’s ‘secret’ capital by walking around the Brygge harbour and markets.
Overnight in Bergen.
Day 10: Return Journey
The morning is free for your own activities. After breakfast it's time to say goodbye for those of our guests who organized their return individually. Participants with the ferry package take the ship to Denmark in the afternoon.
Overnight in Denmark or Bergen.
Day 11: Return/Arrival in Denmark (participants with ferry package)
Arrive in Hirtshals in the morning. Transport by minibus to Hamburg available upon request.

Norway's harsh but stunning natural landscape has made the country a popular destination. Its famous fjords and glaciers are home to breathtaking scenery and to an abundance of wildlife, including wolves, bears, moose, and whales. Visitors often tour rural Norway to witness the glacial landscapes, waterfalls, and mountain ranges, but cosmopolitan Oslo also draws its own fans for its vibrant arts and nightlife. Museums about the fierce Viking people of ancient Norway fascinate and educate visitors with relics, including weapons, armor, folk art, and even ruins of watercraft.
Norway is a popular destination for active vacationers – the mountains are great for snowboarding, skiing, cross-country skiing, and dog sledding. The private tourist sector is also keen on preserving the country's largely unblemished natural beauty, so there are lots of avenues for green and eco-travelers as well, including eco-friendly hotels and tours. Visitors also go to Norway to see the spectacular Northern Lights – natural light shows that appear in the evening Norse skies that look like a neon light show.
