Throughout history, people have traded amber along the Amber Trail that passes through Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. On this bicycle tour, you ride from the artist's town of Szentendre to the Danube bend and on to Banska Stiavnica, an old mining town in the hills. You will see traditional crafts being handmade in the village of Malatina, while you visit the pilgrimage site of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in Poland. The cycling gets more challenging as you cross the Low Tatras and west part of the High Tatras. Daily Program: Guided

Day 1: Budapest - Szentendre
After arriving in Budapest, you can take a bus, train or boat to the small town of Szentendre (12 miles/19 km away). This town has a unique character with 24 museums, 7 churches, 13 galleries and countless cafes and small bars. Visit the Open Air Museum that provides a glimpse into original Hungarian country life.

Day 2: Szentendre - Esztergom (32 miles/51 km)
Cycling along the Danube River to Lenyefalu, the first stage leads you a ferry that will take you to Szentendre Island. After crossing and biking through the charming island, the ferry takes you back to the mainland, where you continue onward to Esztergom. For those wanting more cycling there is a challenging ascent to the nearby Visegrad Castle, which has a superb panorama of the Danube Valley. Estergom has a massive castle that was the original palace of the Hungarian bishops. It is certainly one of the highlights of the Hungarian part of this tour.

Day 3: Esztergom/Sturovo - Dudince (36 miles/59 km)
The Slovakia part of the tour starts today as you cross from the southern to the northern bank of the Danube on the way to Sturovo. It is fairly easy cycling over rolling landscapes to the town of Dudince, which takes full advantage of the mineral rich waters in the area. Built according to the ideas of Socialist Realism, Dudince is a very interesting place to visit with Roman bathtubs carved out of travertine stone.

Day 4: Dudince - Banska Stiavnica (40 km/25 miles)
Today's stage is the start of the demanding section of Slovakia with the Stiavnicky Hills, a precursor to the later mountain stages. If you do not feel like mountain cycling, you have the option to shorten daily stages or be transferred to the next destination. The day finishes in Banska Stiavnica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring an extremely well-conserved old town and long heritage of mining. It is certainly one of the top stops on the entire Amber Trail.

Day 5: Banska Stiavnica - Kremnica - Banska Bystrica (23 miles/37 km)
Avid cyclists can bike directly to Kremnica today. This is a very challenging section incorporating two ascents. For those who do not think they will manage this, there is a beautiful train ride with superb views of Kremnica. Kremnica is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Slovakia, nestled in the middle of the Kremnica Hills surrounded by seven peaks. The town's castle dominates the landscape. From there there is a transfer to Banska Bystrica, where you stop to look at the precious timber church located in Hronsek. Once in Banska Bystrica you will see that the old part of the town is being restored, attempting to overcome the town's upsetting, socialist past. For those who want to have a rest day, you can be transferred to Banska Bystrica from Banska Stiavnica to spend a day exploring the city.

Day 6: Banska Bystrica - Liptovska Osada - Liptovsky Mikulas (28 miles/44 km)
Today's transportation is organized from Banska Bystrica to Liptovska Osada (thirty minutes), due to the fact that the only route along the valley is a highway. On the way you can see the small mountain village of Vlkolinec. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Vlkolinec contains the largest concentration of traditional architecture in the Slovak Republic including precious, old houses built using old crafts and techniques. From Liptovska Osada, the cycle tour begins in a very challenging area of the Lower Tatras with a seven mile climb. However, the amazing views and the sweeping landscape are worth the ride to the top. The rest of the day is easier with a ride around the reservoir in Liptovska Mara. The day's ride finishes in Liptovsky Mikulas, an interesting town whose museum documents an infamous outlaw named Juraj Janosik, the equivalent of Robin Hood in Slovakia.

Day 7: Liptovsky Mikulas - Dolny Kubin (29 miles/47 km)
Today you cycle through the Chocsky and Oravsky Hills, one of the prettiest segments of the whole route. Stops along the way include Malatina, where you can watch rugs being hand-made on an original wooden loom, and Lestiny, with a rare wooden church built without a single nail. In the evening, you will be transferred to Sucha Beskidzka in Poland.

Day 8: Sucha Beskidzka - Kalwaria Zebrzydowska - Krakow (18 miles/29 km)
The main highlight today is Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, an imposing Bernadine monastery. Transfer by car from Kalwaria Zebrzydowska to Krakow.

Day 9: Krakow and Individual Departure
In Krakow you will probably want to spend more than just one day to visit the Wawel Castle, Old Market Square, Kazimierz Jewish Quarter, town walls and Royal Way.

Please read these terms and conditions carefully. You need to agree with these before you book your tour.

Topbicycle is a brand name of Greenways Travel Club Ltd (GTC) for its bicycle tour programs in Central and Eastern Europe.
• Self-guided tours are available every day from April to the end of October.
• Private guided tours are available every day from April to the end of October.
• All trip prices are per person, and are based on double occupancy.
• Single occupancy requests come with a single supplement.
• There is a 15% surcharge if you travel alone on a self-guided tour.

Cancellations and Refunds 
Cancellation by client: if you need to cancel your tour before departure, the following fees shall apply at the time we receive your written cancellation notice:

• More than 45 days before departure: 100 EUR per person (the deposit).
• From 45 to 14 days before departure: 50 % of tour price. 
• Less than 14 days before departure: 100% of tour price.

Tour Cancellation by GTC: 
GTC reserves the right to cancel any tour due to acts of nature and/or any other occurrence out of our control. We also reserve the right to cancel any trip prior to departure when circumstances make it necessary, in which case a full refund will be made to the client, constituting full settlement. GTC is not responsible for any additional expenses that may be incurred by a client in relation to a canceled tour (i.e., purchase of a nonrefundable airline ticket, visa fees, equipment, or additional lodging).

Eligibility and Reservations
You must be at least eighteen years of age. People younger than this must be accompanied by an adult.

Refunds for Services Not Used
Our tours are sold as a package. Credit cannot be given for services not used by a client. This includes accommodations, meals, or any other arrangements not used for any reason.

Trip Cancellation Insurance
We recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance.

Travel Insurance
We recommend all clients carry medical and personal insurance to cover hospital and other medical expenses and loss of baggage or personal belongings.

Responsibility
As a client, you have specific responsibilities to GTC and to other tour members that include:
• Selecting a tour appropriate to your interests and abilities.
• Preparing for your tour by reading and understanding pre-tour information provided by GTC
• Bringing appropriate clothing as recommended by GTC.
• Acting in an appropriate and respectful manner in accordance with customs and laws of countries and regions visited.

GTC reserves the right to accept, retain, or decline any tour member at any time and for any reason. In such a case, a refund equal to the actual cost of the unused services is the limit of GTC´s responsibility.

Furthermore, payment of your deposit represents your acceptance of the following terms and conditions:
GTC, and agents give notice that all services and arrangements for transportation, accommodations, and all other services and arrangements related to this tour have been made by GTC only as an agent upon the express condition that GTC shall not be liable and does not assume responsibility for any claims, damages, expenses, or other financial loss whether to person or property arising out of any injury, accident, death, cancellation, delay, alteration or inconvenience resulting from any act of omission, commission, or inadvertence of any hotel, carrier, restaurant, or other company or person rendering any of the services included in the tour or caused by weather, sickness, strides, quarantines, or other cause whatsoever beyond the control of GTC. The right is reserved to alter the itinerary, arrangements, or dates, if it becomes necessary or advisable, and each participant agrees to pay additional expenses, if any.

Rental Agreement
If you rent equipment from GTC, you agree to return all of this equipment at the end of the tour or at the expiry of the agreed rental period in the same conditions as when delivered to you, reasonable wear and tear only excepted. You also acknowledge that you are so responsible even when your use of the equipment is in a tour or excursion organized by GTC. In the event of loss or constructive loss of the rental equipment, you agree to pay the replacement value thereof to GTC, should GTC elect to replace the same equipment, otherwise you shall only be required to pay fair market value for that equipment, and in the event of damage which is less than a loss or constructive loss of the equipment, to pay for the cost of repairs, and you also agree without prejudice to any other remedy GTC might have.

Statement of Risks
The risks and dangers inherent in cycling, horse-riding, walking, swimming, hiking, ballooning, flying, and sailing include, but are not limited to, vehicle traffic; weather conditions; illness or accident caused by stress, fatigue, or consumption of alcoholic beverages; secondary transportation by airplane, bus, car, van, taxi, boat, or other conveyance. GTC assumes no responsibility for any claims, damages, expenses, or liability for any claims, damages, expenses or other financial loss whether to person or property arising out of these risks and dangers.

Topbicycle is a brand name of Greenways Travel Club Ltd (GTC) for its bicycle tour programs in Central and Eastern Europe.
• Self-guided tours are available every day from April to the end of October.
• Private guided tours are available every day from April to the end of October.
• All trip prices are per person, and are based on double occupancy.
• Single occupancy requests come with a single supplement.
• There is a 15% surcharge if you travel alone on a self-guided tour.

Cancellations and Refunds 
Cancellation by client: if you need to cancel your tour before departure, the following fees shall apply at the time we receive your written cancellation notice:

• More than 45 days before departure: 100 EUR per person (the deposit).
• From 45 to 14 days before departure: 50 % of tour price. 
• Less than 14 days before departure: 100% of tour price.

Tour Cancellation by GTC: 
GTC reserves the right to cancel any tour due to acts of nature and/or any other occurrence out of our control. We also reserve the right to cancel any trip prior to departure when circumstances make it necessary, in which case a full refund will be made to the client, constituting full settlement. GTC is not responsible for any additional expenses that may be incurred by a client in relation to a canceled tour (i.e., purchase of a nonrefundable airline ticket, visa fees, equipment, or additional lodging).

Eligibility and Reservations
You must be at least eighteen years of age. People younger than this must be accompanied by an adult.

Refunds for Services Not Used
Our tours are sold as a package. Credit cannot be given for services not used by a client. This includes accommodations, meals, or any other arrangements not used for any reason.

Trip Cancellation Insurance
We recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance.

Travel Insurance
We recommend all clients carry medical and personal insurance to cover hospital and other medical expenses and loss of baggage or personal belongings.

Responsibility
As a client, you have specific responsibilities to GTC and to other tour members that include:
• Selecting a tour appropriate to your interests and abilities.
• Preparing for your tour by reading and understanding pre-tour information provided by GTC
• Bringing appropriate clothing as recommended by GTC.
• Acting in an appropriate and respectful manner in accordance with customs and laws of countries and regions visited.

GTC reserves the right to accept, retain, or decline any tour member at any time and for any reason. In such a case, a refund equal to the actual cost of the unused services is the limit of GTC´s responsibility.

Furthermore, payment of your deposit represents your acceptance of the following terms and conditions:
GTC, and agents give notice that all services and arrangements for transportation, accommodations, and all other services and arrangements related to this tour have been made by GTC only as an agent upon the express condition that GTC shall not be liable and does not assume responsibility for any claims, damages, expenses, or other financial loss whether to person or property arising out of any injury, accident, death, cancellation, delay, alteration or inconvenience resulting from any act of omission, commission, or inadvertence of any hotel, carrier, restaurant, or other company or person rendering any of the services included in the tour or caused by weather, sickness, strides, quarantines, or other cause whatsoever beyond the control of GTC. The right is reserved to alter the itinerary, arrangements, or dates, if it becomes necessary or advisable, and each participant agrees to pay additional expenses, if any.

Rental Agreement
If you rent equipment from GTC, you agree to return all of this equipment at the end of the tour or at the expiry of the agreed rental period in the same conditions as when delivered to you, reasonable wear and tear only excepted. You also acknowledge that you are so responsible even when your use of the equipment is in a tour or excursion organized by GTC. In the event of loss or constructive loss of the rental equipment, you agree to pay the replacement value thereof to GTC, should GTC elect to replace the same equipment, otherwise you shall only be required to pay fair market value for that equipment, and in the event of damage which is less than a loss or constructive loss of the equipment, to pay for the cost of repairs, and you also agree without prejudice to any other remedy GTC might have.

Statement of Risks
The risks and dangers inherent in cycling, horse-riding, walking, swimming, hiking, ballooning, flying, and sailing include, but are not limited to, vehicle traffic; weather conditions; illness or accident caused by stress, fatigue, or consumption of alcoholic beverages; secondary transportation by airplane, bus, car, van, taxi, boat, or other conveyance. GTC assumes no responsibility for any claims, damages, expenses, or liability for any claims, damages, expenses or other financial loss whether to person or property arising out of these risks and dangers.
