Through the Tatra mountains

Budapest to Krakow on the Amber Trail

Tour Description: Guided

(View Self-guided)

Throughout history, people have traded amber along the Amber Trail that passes through Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. On this bicycle tour, you ride from the artist's town of Szentendre to the Danube bend and on to Banska Stiavnica, an old mining town in the hills. You will see traditional crafts being handmade in the village of Malatina, while you visit the pilgrimage site of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in Poland. The cycling gets more challenging as you cross the Low Tatras and west part of the High Tatras. Your reward after the challenging climbs are the superb panoramic views of the breathtaking Slovakian countryside dotted with traditional mountain villages, meadows and pastures. Krakow, one of Poland's oldest cities, rivals Prague with its wealth of historical monuments and is an exciting end to this tour along the Amber Trail!
