This fantastic cycling tour includes cycling the “Carrilet”, the converted railway that runs for 135km from Ripoll in the Pyrenees to Sant Feliu de Guixols on the Mediterranean Sea.
The riding starts in the mountain town of Ripoll (682 metres) and follows the old railway line that connects Ripoll to Sant Joan de les Abadesses (775 metres). This entire section is paved and is an idyllic start to the ride. From Sant Joan de les Abadesses the ride weaves its way through this medieval town before climbing its way up to the Coll de Santigosa at 1,010 metres before descending into Olot. This mountain section of riding is one of the highlights of cycling in Catalonia – truly spectacular.
From Olot to Girona the riding takes place on the converted railway that is known as “The Carrilet”. It is a gentle descent for about 60 km into Girona. The section of the Carrilet between Girona and Sant Feliu de Guixols is approximately 40 km and covers a diverse range of scenery from the undulating farmland around Girona to the Pine and Cork forests of the coastal region. A truly beautiful ride.
Two more days are spent by the shores of the Mediterranean Sea to further explore the jewels of the Costa Brava before returning to Barcelona or Girona.

"We had a great trip through Catalonia and the Costa Brava this month! The scenery was so beautiful and the countryside was dotted with endless medieval villages! The food was shocking great! I would have to say it was some of the best I've eaten anywhere.
"We were lucky to have enjoyed a week of great weather and the upgraded hotels Creative Catalonia arranged for us were spectacular! They really went above and beyond the call of duty for us in every way. They came out twice on Easter weekend to help the group out with equipment and then again to greet us at the upgraded hotels to ensure we made it there safely. The bikes were new and well outfitted and the route easy to follow and well marked. I wanted to start over and do the whole trip again!
"Congratulations on choosing great contractors. This wasn't our first trip with you and will not be our last."

Creative Catalonia is a family company run by Daniel Herzberg and Lucy Kinnison. We are a married couple who live in what we consider to be the most diverse and exciting part of Spain. We are 100% committed to providing our clients the most rewarding cycling or walking holiday experience in the Catalonia region of Spain that one could hope for.
We are very proud to announce the birth of our lovely daughter Chloe who was born on the 4th of March, 2010, just 4 days before one of the worst snow storms ever to hit this part of Catalonia - which left over 200,000 homes without power for up to a week! Welcome to the world, Chloe.
We are both Australian and British citizens as well as Spanish residents. Daniel was born in the United Kingdom and then emigrated to Perth, Western Australia with his family when he was 7 and grew up exploring the great outdoors of Western Australia. Lucy was born and raised in the United Kingdom before embarking on her 'global travels' after completing her university studies. After living together for several years in Spain we moved to Sydney in New South Wales where Lucy became an Australian citizen.
The desire to live in Spain was too strong and we moved back to the Girona area in Catalonia to create our own Cycling and Walking holiday company to share our great enthusiasm for this beautiful area with others.
For us, a day out on foot or bicycle exploring the hidden corners of this cyclists and walkers paradise is without doubt the true joy of being here. We love to share our local knowledge and experiences with others and that is the reason for the creation of Creative Catalonia.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
All the best from,
Chloe, Oliver, Lucy, Daniel & Max the dog.
