The pristine beaches and stunning limestone scenery of southern Thailand have made it a favorite backdrop for Hollywood movies, such as “The Beach” and of course James Bond's “Man with the Golden Gun” and you’ll feel like you are on a movie set riding through this gorgeous landscape.
Southern Thailand has more to offer than turquoise waters, white sand and lush jungles - it’s also home to a fascinating mixture of cultures. Thai Buddhists mingle with Muslim seafarers to produce a colorful people steeped in history and tradition. Priding themselves on their openness and hospitality, the people of the south, or Khon Dai, are always ready to show farang (foreigners) their country.
Our tour starts on the Gulf of Thailand, at a pristine beach that is off the tourist track. We then head inland and spend time on a stunning lake and ride on the edge of Khao Sok National Park - home to the last of Thailand's great rainforests - before we head to the beaches on the Andaman Sea. From Khao Lak we'll head to the paradise island of Koh Yao Noi where you'll spend time with a local fishing family.
As we boat through Phang Nga Bay towards Krabi be awed by the spectacular limestone cliffs rising vertically from the sea. Though we ride through the world class tourist destinations of Khao Lak and Krabi, we also leave behind the tourist enclaves and see a Southern Thailand that is a rarely visited gem to be discovered.
The minimum age for this tour is 18.

Day 1: Surat Thani (19 miles/30 km)
We are met at Surat Thani airport by our team and transfer for less than an hour before we have lunch at a restaurant and then it’s time to start riding. We take a quiet, shady country road through a rubber tree plantation as we head to our beachside resort on Khanom beach. Meals: L, D.
Overnight at Racha Khiri.
Day 2: Khanom Beach Loop (47 miles/75 km)
Today we do a loop ride along the coast, past some stunning beaches, through a fishing village to a cave. We’ll then head back to the beach for lunch before we head to a refreshing waterfall on our way back to the hotel. We’ll be riding through an area that is missed by most tourists, so don’t be surprised at the reactions you’ll get from the locals at seeing a foreigner on a bicycle. Meals: B, L, D.
Overnight at Racha Khiri.
Day 3: Khanom - Cheow Laan Lake (37 miles/60 km)
We leave the waves and sand behind and transfer for two hours before starting to cycle towards the pier where we’ll meet our boat for a ride beneath towering karst cliffs to our floating accommodation on Cheow Laan Lake. Our bamboo bungalows are simple, but clean, and have the unique feature of being able to dive directly into the lake for a swim. If there's time before dinner go for a sunset kayak to try and spot monkeys. Meals: B, L, D.
Overnight at Cheow Laan Lake.
Day 4: Cheow Laan Lake - Khao Sok National Park (24 miles/40 km)
After waking up to the sounds of the jungle we'll take the boat back to the pier and our waiting bikes. We’ll start our day with a downhill and then take a road that undulates and winds through a series of magnificent limestone cliffs and green jungle along the edge of Khao Sok National Park to our riverside lodge. Khao Sok National Park is one of the true hidden gems of Thailand. The park consists of evergreen rainforests, huge limestone mountains shooting straight up in the air, immense as well as isolated lakes, caves and plethora of wild animals. Meals: B, L, D.
Overnight at The Cliff & River Jungle Resort.
Day 5: Khao Sok National Park – Koh Kho Khao Island (31 miles/50km)
Our ride today will take us to the outskirts of Takua Pa. Here we’ll ride through the old town and see traditional wooden buildings intermixed with Portuguese colonial buildings as we ride towards our ferry to Koh Kho Khao Island. We’ll stop en route to visit the Tsunami Victim Cemetery which memorialises the victims from 39 countries. The short ferry brings us to an island oasis and we’ll ride the short 6 km to our beachfront bungalows. Meals: B, L, D.
Overnight at C&N Resort.
Day 6: Rest Day
A free day to relax and enjoy the endless beach. Feel free to take the bikes and explore the island. In the late afternoon we’ll go on an exploration of the mangroves by boat. Meals: B.
Overnight at C&N Resort.
Day 7: Koh Kho Khao Island – Khao Lak (23 miles/37 km)
We cycle from the hotel to the ferry pier and then it's a short ride to visit the beachside Tsunami Memorial at Ban Nam Khem and the big fishing boat that was carried an amazing 2 kilometres inland by the surging waters. Smaller boats were also deposited nearby, particularly in a pond we’ll pass. We then head inland and take a quiet backroad through small villages, shady rubber plantations and cross rivers as we cycle to the small waterfall of Sam Rung. There’s a dipping pool at the base perfect for cooling off before we have lunch. Then it’s a short cycle to our hotel in Khao Lak. Meals: B, L, D.
Overnight at Aspara Resort.
Day 8: Khao Lak – Kok Kloy (19 miles/30 km)
We ride back roads, along canals, past palm and rubber plantations, shrimp farms and along the beach to our next seaside resort. It's an easy riding day so you have time to enjoy the pool at your deluxe hotel. Meals: B, L, D.
Overnight at Ranyatavi Resort.
Day 9: Phang Nga – Koh Yao Noi (19 miles/30 km)

Once on land we’ll explore this paradise island as we take a dirt road to a view point and then ride through fishing villages and past rice fields and mangroves. We overnight at a homestay with a local fishing family in their traditional home. In the evening we'll head to the night market and try some local favourites, including roti. Meals: BLD.

We cycle 390 kilometres exploring beaches, waterfalls, jungle, fishing villages and islands. We enjoy some time off the bike so we can take in boat rides, wildlife and the culture of this fascinating region. The cycling is on a mixture of tarmac and dirt roads.
An air-conditioned minivan that travels behind the group provides excellent support. Participants can cycle as much or as little as they like and still enjoy the same views as the rest of the group. Our route is designed to take us off the main roads as much as possible so we can explore scenic areas around Khanom, Khao Lak, Phang Nga and Krabi.
On this tour there is one dedicated full day off and a couple of morning rides so you have the afternoons free to enjoy the beach.
The riding is primarily on tarmac roads, with a few undulations, but there are no major hill climbs. The distances are well within the capability of most riders with a reasonable fitness level. This trip is a mixture of good conditioned tarmac roads and vehicle wide dirt roads. A small amount of riding is off road but nothing too technical. A support truck is always available to help when required.
This tour is rated Moderate and is for cyclists in average physical condition.

The Thai currency is the baht. ATMs, which are abundant, are the easiest ways to get Thai baht. Have a supply of US dollars in cash on hand, just in case your card doesn’t work. Banks or the more rare private moneychangers offer the best foreign-exchange rates. Credit cards are accepted in big cities and resort hotels but you’ll need baht for family-run guesthouses or restaurants.

SpiceRoads endeavors to offer high-quality, educational, and adventure-filled itineraries that highlight and focus on the diversity of landscapes found in Asia and its people. As a specialized "niche" bicycle tour operator since 2000, we provide the most authentic, unique and exciting adventures in Asia.
The SpiceRoads family began back in the mid 1990s, when Hamish Keith was creating, operating and leading ground breaking cycle tours throughout Thailand and in emerging destinations such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar for well known companies such as Exodus Travels and World Expeditions and his own company the Wild Planet.
In 2000 Hamish decided to concentrate on what he loved doing the most and he established SpiceRoads as a specialist cycle tour operator in the region he knew best - Southeast Asia. The “niche” was to promote bicycle group tours directly to clients all around the world via the internet. Hamish set the standard for all subsequent SpiceRoads tours by offering a high quality tour - from customer service, to bicycles, to well researched routes to the guides we use – at a good value.
In 2002, when Hamish left to pursue other opportunities in the travel industry, Struan Robertson came on board, and with his skills in management, IT and of course cycling, the company has grown to encompass other Asian countries. During the years of growth what hasn't changed is the spirit of SpiceRoads, which is to offer professional, international standard cycle tours and services to independent travellers and cycle enthusiast looking to discover Asia by bicycle.
Our well-planned eye-opening cycling tours provide an active immersion into local cultures, languages, scenery and, of course, the most delicious of foods. By combining legendary service and rare opportunities for cultural experiences, our travel philosophy continues to excite, enthuse, and positively impact every guest. Take a look at our guestbook if you don't believe us!
SpiceRoads' staff and all of our professionally licensed multi-lingual tour guides are passionate about creating the best possible experiences, with fun, creativity, and total dedication to satisfaction.
We're always peddling towards making your tour perfect so you can See Asia by Bicycle!

The client accepts full responsibility for obtaining any and all such documentation. Every client is encouraged to contact the consulate/embassy for the countries they are traveling in respectively to receive the latest and most current information about their immigration / transit policies.
SpiceRoads does not accept responsibility if your documentation is not in order. Information provided by the company about these matters and other related items (clothing, baggage, climate etc.) is given in good faith but without responsibility on the part of the company.
For all tours (except short Thailand tours 4 days or less, see below):
SpiceRoads insists that all clients must take out good travel insurance before joining one of our tours. There are inherent risks involved in cycling and mountain biking and we will not be liable for your medical expenses or evacuation in case of an accident.
This insurance must include adequate coverage for any personal accident, medical expenses, injury, death and repatriation. Insurance should also provide coverage for cancellations or curtailment of the holiday. Clients should also ensure that there are no exclusion clauses limiting protection for any dangerous or unusual activities that might be included in their tour.
If you join the tour without adequate insurance you may be disallowed from continuing on the tour without the right of refund. Clients are solely responsible for arranging their own insurance and they should ensure that they are covered for the full duration of their tour. Your tour leader will ask for copies of your insurance before allowing you to join the tour. This protects both you and us.
In case of an accident, please consult with your tour leader or contact our reservation staff at +66(0) 89 895 5680 (24 hour hot line).
Upon signing up for a tour you must agree to accept the authority of the tour leader who is the representative of the company. The tour leader should be regarded as the same as a “ship’s captain” or an airline’s “Pilot.”
At all times the authority of your tour leader will be final when concerning matters likely to endanger your own health or safety or in regard to behavior or ill health that is causing or is likely to cause danger, distress or disturbance to the group and the well-being of the tour. Failure to abide by the authority of the tour leader could result in legal proceedings and the immediate termination of your participation in the tour without recourse.
In such circumstances we reserve the right to terminate all travel arrangements without liability on the part of the company. You must always comply with the local law, customs and drug regulations of the country/ies you are visiting. Failure to do so may lead to you being ordered to leave the tour without recourse to any refund or any legal claim against the company. In the case of ill health the company and its operators can make those arrangements that it sees fit and recover all monies paid from the client. The person who signs the booking form (which incorporates these conditions) warrants that he/she does so, with full authority on behalf of all those whose names appear thereon, and confirms thereby that all such persons accept and are fully aware of these conditions.
No refund will be given for non-utilized services, however if we are able to obtain a refund ourselves for these services we will endeavor to pass these on to the client less reasonable administration charges.
SpiceRoads pledges never to increase the tour price except under exceptional circumstances for those that have previously book the tour. Circumstances of this policy include: government action or legislation that directs the company to increase prices, exceptional and unfavorable changes in exchange rates that exceed a 20% fluctuation or currency devaluation.
Clients will be notified of any price increase at least 4 weeks before departure.
We will not accept any liability for any delay in your outward or inward flight/s, whether the cancellation or delay is caused by the weather, airline rescheduling, industrial action or mechanical failure. We will give no refunds or compensation for lost time and services from the itinerary.
Should you have a complaint while on tour, you must notify your guide, or the local operator, at the earliest opportunity, so that they can do what they can to immediately rectify it. Failure to do so will result in the limiting of a client's ability to claim compensation. If the problem is not brought to our attention we have no opportunity to rectify it. Any complaints should be sent to us in writing, or by email, not more than 28 days after the tour ends.
Complaints related to booking, inquires, billing, sales or operations should be directed to the Sales and Marketing Manager and/or the General Manager.
If there is anything else you need to know or want to hear in order to put your mind at rest, please do not hesitate to contact us.
