Marmaris - Kalkan
Day 1: Arrival to Marmaris
Individual plane trip to Dalaman and transfer to Marmaris (ca.1, 5 h). Check-in on board begins at 14.00 hrs. Use the afternoon for a stroll through the town and its famous bazaar. The tour begins with a communal dinner on board.
Day 2: Marmaris – Bozburun Peninsula – Ekincik (19 miles/30 km)
Our first bike tour begins after breakfast and takes first along a coastal stretch and then along a mountain road to a 300 m-high village on the Bozburun Peninsula, which is one of the most authentic and pristine regions of the Turkish Mediterranean coast. At the shore below, the ship is waiting to take us on the crossing to Ekincik, a small port, where we spend the night.
Day 3: Ekincik – Dalyan – Kaunos (19 miles/30 km)
Today, we bicycle across a 350 m-high pass to Lake Köycegiz, whose hot springs invite us to take a therapeutic bath. We then continue by bike as far as Dalyan, where an excursion boat is waiting to take us past the impressive Lykian rock graves of Dalyan to the ancient city of Kaunos. The impressive ruins of Kaunos are well worth a visit before the boat takes us back to the ship, which is anchored in front of a rock formation and where a delicious dinner is waiting for us.
Day 4: Dalyan – Sarsala Bay (34 miles/54 km)
In the morning, a small boat takes us and our bikes to Dalyan, the starting point of today’s bike trip, riding along quiet roads through lush vegetation. In Dalaman, we stop for a typical Turkish tea break. We continue afterwards through the fertile and partially wooded Dalaman Plain as far as Sarsala, a quiet bay, where we spend the night.
Day 5: Sarsala Bay – Göcek - Gemiler (18 miles/28 km)
Starting from Sarsala, we cycle once more across the Dalaman Plain and later via a pass road to Göcek, which, on account of its important marina, is one of the most important locations for tourism on the Turkish south coast. In the afternoon, passing many small islands, the ship brings us to Gemiler, which is also known as the island of St. Nicholas, to whom an Early Christian church was dedicated in the 5th century. In the evening, the extensive Byzantine ruins are asking to be explored.
Day 6: Gemiler – Kazaköy – Fethiye (19 miles/30 km)
From Gemiler, we bicycle through pinewoods to the Greek town of Kayaköy, which once had 6.500 inhabitants but was abandoned in 1922. We spend some time here to explore the impressive town ruins on foot. We then continue on to Fethiye, where we have enough time in the evening to go on an enjoyable walk through this lively town. Of particular interest is the old centre around the Eski Cami mosque, the narrow, winding stepped streets and the typical corner houses as well as the Lykian rock graves, especially the magnificent temple grave of Amyntas, located above the town.
Day 7: Fethiye – Kemer – Saklikent – Kalkan (33 miles/54 km)
A pleasant transfer ride takes us from Fetiye to Kemer, the starting point of today’s bike tour. This is a truly impressive place, because the Taurus Mountains, up to 3000 m high, almost reach the shore here. We cycle from there to the Saklikent Canyon, where we have lunch right by the river. Saklikent means “Hidden City” in Turkish. The spectacular gorge can easily beexplored on foot. We continue southward as far as Kalkan, where we end our journey through Lykia with a cozy communal dinner on board and a friendly get-together with the crew and the tour guides.
Day 8: Departure from Kalkan
After breakfast, checkout and group transfer to the airport and individual return home or extended stay in Turkey.

Your tour price includes the use of an Island Hopping rental bike. We urgently discourage you from bringing your own bike because the transport from your hometown to Greece by airplane is both costly and risky. The bikes often get damaged during transport and the transfer taxis are often unwilling to transport bike boxes.
On arrival you receive a 21-gear aluminum Island Hopping touring bicycle. These bicycles are especially made for us and the result of our long experience in cycling tourism. The men’s bicycles have a frame size of 56 cm or 60 cm, and the frames of the women’s bicycles are 46 cm and 52 cm.
All the bicycles have a fender, a kickstand, a rack, and a quick release seat. We provide an Ortlieb waterproof saddlebag for everybody.
The bicycles are deliberately not equipped with bottle holders in order to avoid accidents. The use of rucksacks (except for hydration packs) is, in our opinion, less practical than handlebar bags or saddlebags which are more easily accessible. If necessary we supply you with a waterproof saddlebag by Ortlieb, a practical way of carrying drinks, bathing gear, camera etc.
Should you not want to be without your own saddle (without the post) or your own click pedal, please bring them with you and let your tour guide attach them to your rental bike.
We kindly ask you in your own interest to take good care of the hired bike during the trip and to ensure that the bike is always safely places and protected from accidents (e.g. falling into saltwater). Please keep in mind that you will have to pay compensation for any damage your cause, and that this is not covered by the rental fee.
Required safety helmets
In order to guarantee optimum protection we request that you bring your own helmet and - for your own safety - wear it on all bike tours. You are free not to wear a helmet if you are aware of the risks and take over the responsibility for yourself.

Most of the roads are asphalted. You can set aside a whole or half-day for swimming or relaxing on board the boat whenever you want.
Helmet use is mandatory on all bike tours. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own (well-fitted) helmet. Bike helmets are available on board in limited number (on request).
This tour is rated Moderate and is for cyclists in good physical condition.

Tour start and end
Nearest airport: Dalman, Turkey
Nearest train station: Dalman, Turkey
You will find your ship on embarkation day in the port of Marmaris in Turkey. Check-in time on board begins at 2 p.m. The ship’s exact location in the port is not decided until the actual embarkation day.
Traveling by plane to Dalman
Traveling by plane is the fastest, cheapest and most comfortable way to get to Turkey. The closest airport for this trip is Dalaman. There are scheduled flights as well as chartered flights to Dalaman (www.condor.de or www.tuifly.com from German Airports). All flights are non-smoking flights. If there is no flight to Dalaman, Izmir is another possible airport.
From our experience, there is a 50% chance that chartered planes will change their scheduled flight times. The respective travel agent will directly inform you of any such changes. Set flight times are only really available with scheduled flights and these are generally much more expensive.
If possible, please choose a return flight that does not depart until early or late afternoon to ensure a stress-free return to your home country.
Transfers between airport and boat
We organize collective transfers from Dalaman airport to the port of Marmaris. As long as those transfers take place on embarkation and disembarkation days they are free of charge for you.
At the airport, you will be received by a person carrying an "Islandhopping" panel or a panel with your name on. We generally organize small buses or taxis for the transfer, so you may incur a wait for guests from other destinations.
Boarding
You will come across one or two tour guides, wearing a blue polo with the sign "Inselhüpfen," standing by the ship.
The tour begins officially with a first dinner on board.

Straddling Asia and Europe, Turkey is a fascinating and a welcoming blend of East and West. Istanbul represents the appeal of Turkey – the melding of ancient history with 21st-century amenities and attractions. Many go to Turkey to see the ancient ruins – testaments to Turkey's diverse and storied history and the influence of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires. Religious iconography and art are plentiful in the country’s many stunning mosques, synagogues, and churches. Turkish architecture sets an exotic eastern tone with its many domes and vibrant mosaics, and its markets are full of colorful treasures waiting to be discovered.
Turkey's substantial coastlines along the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Black Seas give its beaches a Riviera-like ambiance. The crystal blue waters of Turkish beaches are reminiscent of neighboring Greece, but the port towns and seaside villages have a distinctly Turkish flavor.
