Most bicycle tours cover about 20-40 miles per day and are designed for travelers who enjoy a leisurely pace, but more challenging bike tours are available. When you read the bike tour descriptions, pay close attention to terrain and average daily distances.
We've added standard "levels of difficulty" to each bicycle tour listing to help guide you:
- Easy: Easy cycling in mostly flat terrain. Generally short distances (up to 20 miles per day).
- Leisure: Relaxed cycling with occasional hills and distances up to 35 miles per day.
Average physical condition required.
- Moderate: Generally rolling or hilly terrain with average daily distances up to 45 miles.
For cyclists in good physical condition.
- Challenging: Extended and frequent climbs and/or daily distances more than 45 miles.
For experienced cyclists in above-average physical condition.
To help match your ability level with the right bike tour for you, Level of Difficulty is a searchable feature in our Tour Search.
Couples and groups traveling together often have differing ability levels. E-bikes are a great equalizer to help everyone in the party cycle comfortably and at the same pace.
